I can imagine how you felt bringing the '59 home, probably the same way I felt bringing home my late grandfather's '68 Plymouth Fury VIP home after it had sat for 13 years. The happiest day was the day I drove the Fury under her own power for the first time. The day you drive the '59 for the first time is going to be a great day.

When you have had time to look under the hood and can find the time to make another video, be sure to let us know how it was originally equipped. It would be neat if the build sheet were to still be in the back seat (usually under the bottom cushion). There may be a lot of work ahead, but it is still possible to find front fenders and even a hood here in Texas, especially in the dry areas of West Texas. Looking forward to this project!

In the process of restoring a classic car, is good to reinforce the passenger and driver's cabin, doors, and roof to meet today's crash test standards. The steering system can be replaced to a safety one. The steering wheel, dash and floor can be remanufactured to add the needed seat belts and air bags. The result will be a street legal safety equipped classic with higher value and durability.

The 59 is an amazing car 54 years ago I drove a 59 Sports Fury with a factory 3 speed on the column that I converted to floor shifter ( Fenton Star Shift ) . Car had a bored out 361 , 4 barrel , with a racing cam . The previous owner had run it on a drag strip in Tennessee, I want to say at Union Hill but it’s been a long time .the car was fast on the jump and I’d beat the new 383 Road Runners on the jump . I remember that when running down the highway about 50 mph the engine made a whoom- whoom -whoom sound .

Christine is actually a 58 Belvedere Thought it was a Fury the whole time. Graveyard carz cleared that up
@DanaTheInsane Жыл бұрын
Christine, the real Christine is a 1958 Plymouth fury. There is no debate about that. Total production run 5303. The car was only delivered in one color, buckskin beige. The fact is most aftermarket. Christine’s are made out of Belvedere’s because there are just aren’t enough Furies to go around. The Christine’s you see today are Belvederes but the Christine in the book is a Fury. I probably read that book 50 times.
@DanaTheInsane Жыл бұрын
The trouble is Stephen king didn’t do his research properly when he wrote the book because he was partly remembering a car he had when he was younger and he didn’t have the Internet of course so there’s lots of mistakes in the book Christine in the book has four doors despite the fact the 58 fury only came in a two door. The Christine in the book also had a shift lever on the column, which was incorrect because all automatic forward look car is at the time had the pushbutton transmission. It’s clearly stated as a fury in the book also that Roland Lebay had it custom painted.

You do know Christine was not really a Fury right? Fury’s were never offered in red in 1958. Christine was most likely a Belvedere. I doubt the mud bogger was a Fury either as that was far too valuable to be converted like that. Plymouth also made models called the Plaza ( the cheapest trim line) and the Savoy, along with the Belvedere. The Fury was the top trim line. They all looked pretty much the same, except for minor trim differences.

That is a 1960 Plymouth Fury, the first line and you can tell by 4 major clues. The Fins are longer, there is no Hockey stick trim lines, the tops of the front left and right fenders have this creased line down the center, and the grill is boxes and not horizontal lines. I'm very sorry my friend you have a 1960 Fury, not a Belvedere. Now I need to help clear something up, so in the Movie Christine they used a mix of 57 and 58s, but Christine was a Plymouth Belvedere with a Fury Trim. Fury was the name of the Trim level. It added an anodized gold touches. There is no such thing as a Plymouth Fury in 1957 or 58. They were Belvederes with a trim line called a Fury. So, what happened was, because of the Sales and confusion, Plymouth decided for the 1960 year they would come out with a stand alone Fury line. And as time went on the confusion stayed because of the fact the stand alone Fury car line up was made from 1960-1978. People thought that there was a 58 Fury because it was a coupe and that the four door dual antenna was the Belvedere....no, nope sorry. Christine was a Belvedere, and truthfully S.King got the description wrong in the book and its thanks to Carpenter for casting the car as a 57/58 Plymouth Belvedere in a fury Trim. Ask any old guy that was around then they'll tell you the same thing. But people were so used to the Belvederes when they told their family I bout a 58 Plymouth Fury lol they knew it was the trim level they spoke of, but it was in fact a Belvedere. Any old guy or serious mother Mopar fan or car person will tell you the samething I have. Also you can Google this it will tell you too. Google a "1958 Belvedere Coupe" and see Christine. Add "Fury Trim" to see the gold touches. Then Google "1960 Plymouth Fury" and see this thing from the video here. Again no hate, just trying to help folks understand the past that is fact, do the research for yourself. Thimbs up to the video.

No dude, if it's been in the forest for 39 years it's the sasquach. I thought it was in a lake or something. I can't believe the chrome on the bumper!

Why didn't they bring the trailer near the car rather than carrying it that far
