I'm really glad that you're open to posting contents like this. It does help people who are going through a rut. I used to love what I do for a living. Now, I just feel like I've already outgrown everything and I just want to go elsewhere but at the same time, I'm afraid of failing. It's been depressing. I am positive everything will be better, I just have to surpass this confusing stage.

I felt the exact same way my last year of undergrad and it made me question whether or not grad school was the right choice... but here I am, starting my third year of a PhD in biostats at USC (in LA) and I absolutely love it! I wouldn't change it for anything, but that transition period was really tough

Sometimes it’s easy to get sad when you’re transitioning-like from undergrad to grad school. Could be another world from what you’ve been used to. I truly believe it’s worth it to try to get into the very best grad school you can. Harvard for instance.

I also live in ny and just recently graduated and got into a graduate program for social research at CUNY Hunter in nyc. figuring out what I wanted my senior year and after graduating was so difficult for me and the transition is definitely not gonna be easy so you're not alone. everything will fall into place!

I applied for grad school last year - starting my PhD at Columbia in under two months (how I found your channel). I would say just get a draft down on paper and start asking people to revise it. I don’t think my SOP would have been half as good without my lab mentor and PI’s revisions. Also, you’re in good shape because I didn’t even start mine until October. Best of luck!
