How to insert a list of tables or figures in Word

This video will show you how to automatically create a list of tables or figures for your research report, dissertation or thesis. Using the automatic function in Word 2016 minimize the chance of errors, reduce the amount of effort required from your side and will ensure that your research project has a professional look. To avoid that space occurring from going from Table 3 to Table 4; you could right-click on the space between Table 3 and Table 4, select "paragraph". Under the "Spacing section" input value 0.06 in "At" box and click OK.

Or another way is to put the cursor right at the beginning of Table 4, insert Table 3, and when a prompt came up "Do you want to replace the selected table of figures?" click "No". Table 3 will show up right above Table 4 with no space. But this way you need add in reverse from the bottom (add Table 4 first -> Table3 -> Table2 etc,.)

I also found a little trick. If you press the paragraph marks (symbol: ¶) you will see them all over the page where your tables are. Now, if you set your mouse marker AFTER the side number at where you don't want the space between the table to be (for example: Table 1.1................3¶), and delete this sign there wont be any space between them. Sorry if I explained it bad, english is not my native language. Just ask me and I'll try to explain better.

I have a problem that I eventually created that list of table but the two sections did not connect together. Look like the same you have at 4:57. There is an easier way, instead of doing numbering manually,( right click on figure, insert caption, numbering, include chapter number ) it writes lets say Figure 5-2 automatically

Good presentation on table of XXX Can you please help? I have cross references of 250+ documents in the main file refered as "attachments". While the body text specifies about the attachment in the middle of the paragraph I cannot attribute any style to this text of reference while I bold and reference it simply. I want add a list of Attachments like the table of figures or tables after the table of contents. Is there a solution for this scenario?

Everyone trying this method, please note that labels you create in one computer won't be available if you use open word in another computer. I tried one in a mac with Word 2016 and another one a windows machine with Word 2016. I spent almost 3 hours labeling figures and tables on mac and when I returned home and checked on my windows machine, it was absent. Anyone trying this try your best to work on tables and figures from preferably one computer so that you won't loose whatever you made. Thanks for the informative video.

AUTOMATION OF NUMBERING Use the number option within CAPTION dialogue and base the numbering on one of your headings. If you have numbering set for that heading then the added captions will change automatically depending on the heading. This means you won't have to manually input all the figure numbers for all the different sections. - Make one caption - Change the numbering option to refer to a heading with a numbering system - Enjoy inserting a crazy amount of captions throughout the document - Make sure to press CTRL+A and then F9 to update document - Watch the numbers magically adjust

Hi is there a way for the inserted list of tables/figures to not have a space in between them? What I mean is, in the video, you inserted a table from chapter 3 and other tables from chapter 4.
