You said a 5x 14 supra could achieve the Bonham sound....could you do a video on it?

Hi Bob- a 5x14 Supra can achieve the throaty mojo. That’s a nice video topic!

Like the way you checked the snare tuning. Just the right amount of buzz.

4:25 reminds me of the old Yahoo mail commercial "Yah Hooooo woo" 7:48 Thanks for the PT jam! Love it! Snare sounds just like! I recently played a house kit of a smaller Tama and the floor tom was like 6 or 8x14 or something really shallow but it just had low end for days. Nothing has the same magical attack as the Ludwigs tho. Many music stores used to have massive overstock of 15" heads. I suppose 15" snares never really caught on in marching or small sets. A comfy throne is essential to long shed sessions. I remember finally getting a decent one in my early 20s after using one with nearly all the padding gone down to the wood plank. With the new cushy throne I was able to sit longer and thus play more and easier. It took awhile to quit and adjust to it, but ditching caffeine positively made my groove stronger and and more steady. That and lots of practice pad slogging. I now hear time contrast from caffeinated influence when playing with guitar and bass players. Subtle but its there. B12 or shrooms (not those shrooms) is about the only stimulants in small doses that work without feeling like I must have it and my time doesnt feel as pushed. Sorry for the long chapter and verse. Rock on man!

Terry what is your cymbal setup in this vid?
@bonzoleum22 күн бұрын
A 20” A Zil Symphonic French, a 20” reissue Paiste GB multi, an 18” 2002 MEDIUM black label, and a 15” pair MEDIUM 602 hats inverted (TOP on bottom and BOTTOM on top).

Like that mixed kit, Terry. I've found a 70s Pearl chrome over brass snare, in good shape too. Is it worth $300?
@bonzoleum22 күн бұрын
See if you can get one a little cheaper. Is it a regular or 6.5? Make sure it’s brass too, because some of those later 3 band ones are indeed steel.
@DAGDRUM5322 күн бұрын
@@bonzoleum Thanks for replying (I now carry a magnet with me). It's a 5x14, three bands with the air hole underneath them and the same Pearl badge shown in your video many years ago. But I have found a Gretsch black nickel over steel 5x14, new for $239.

Hi Charles- actually it’s 15” diameter. Score one if you can.

How did you set up that rail so it's modular? Would love to do that on my '67 Super Classic!
@bonzoleum22 күн бұрын
Ah yes!!! Score an original spec one that has the stove bolts through the rail. They’re late 50s through maybe 1962ish. I then recommend a later strap with the teeth.
@PicardManeuver22 күн бұрын
@@bonzoleum Thanks!! I already have the strap with the teeth, will keep an eye out for one of the early rails!
