Residencies and AEGD | International Dentist

Some residency programs (usually OMFS, Pediatric, Orofacial pain) may pay you as well. In most cases it occurs if a residency program is affiliated with hospitals. Then you will end up doing some hours there and will get paid enough to cover the tuition cost, which will allow you to graduate from the program loan free. That’s a very good option!!

Where can I find more information on which residency programs pay foreign trained dentists?

OMFS you need the gp first only Puerto rico will take you as an international dentist without USA first. 6 years is only if you wish to double MD and Dental degrees. Plus for OMFS you must pass the CBSE with very high scores and the spots per year are less then 3 per program.

Do you have a list of AEGD programs that accept foreign trained dentists? I have 2 years experience with working in the UK as a dentist, recently relocated to Chicago (willing to move anywhere for AEGD). Thanks for making this video!

I know that Ohio does for sure, Florida too. I would have open the full list of AEGD programs on Pass application and if it’s not mentioned there, then contact each program individually.

So as an international dentist if i take 24 aegd programs i can get us practice license ?

Yes, however not in every state.

I researched more info on your question. So, if you check the each state Dental Boards website, you’ll find that some states provide dental license if you graduated from CODA accredited AEGD. For example, WA state, but I am sure there are many more.
