This theme is what makes resident evil 1 unique from its sequels. There was an air of mystery as to why there are zombies and monsters everywhere. You begin hearing this theme in the middle of the game when you're beginning to piece the clues together. It's a very fitting theme indeed.

The first time you enter the Guardhouse this music starts playing. It is a brand new area with who-knows-what awaiting you. Good mix of mystery and horror. Ominous as hell.
@GarnetTillAlexandros Жыл бұрын
Fun fact: the guardhouse is just a mistranslation from the japanese. In later entries that place is more accurately called 'dormitory' or 'residence'. "Translated from Kishukusha (寄宿舎?), which is also used to refer to boarding houses" "The dormitory, or boarding house, was a medium-scale building adjacent to the Spencer Mansion. It was used as a hall of dormitories for long-time workers such as research staff and guards. Beneath it laid a smaller laboratory based around the subterranean Aqua Ring, a large water tank, in which Neptune-series B.O.W.s were housed. The guards' weapons supply was also stored in the underground."

@ShadrachASMR5 жыл бұрын
It is tracks like this that made the first Resident Evil memorable. The overall uneasiness and creepiness of the tune made one feel as though they were in the game itself. As though there was more to the mystery involving the Spencer Mansion. What added to this effect was how alone Chris or Jill (depending on whom you played) were in the mansion itself. To illustrate, whenever I am in an unsettling place by myself, this track plays in my mind. Sadly, video game tracks do not carry the same weight they did back in the 1990s. An era of video game music which may never return.
@edge64413 жыл бұрын
All you say is true and i'll generalise more by saying not just an era of video game music (which comprises of masterpieces as these on this list) but an era of music quality in general is lost with the 90's. It seems that good taste inspiration and talent have left this planet for the time being.
@SamsarasArt2 жыл бұрын
Playing this for the first time, it really feels like you're trying to solve a mystery. I can't describe how it felt exploring the mansion and slowly putting the pieces together. That's something that's lost to younger generations since its been laid bare what caused the arklay mansion incident.
