One of my biggest disappointments was not being chased by Nemesis in the RCPD. When I was being chased by Mr X in RE 2 in the police station, all I remember thinking was "man I can't imagine how much more scarier and menacing they're going to make Nemesis". Such a let down.

A friend of mine played RE2 remake and on his Leon run he was TERRIFIED by Mr. X just being nearby with his loud thuds. And he’s in university, that shows how good the Mr. X chase really was in that game. Meanwhile RE3 remake was my first experience with RE3 and it was such a huge disappointment. But I digress, Mr. X had good design, he’s an ever looming threat you have to make sure you don’t get attacked by him AND the undead creatures of the RPD. Nemesis meanwhile just… exists and it’s an annoying thing when it happens. They really needed a shit ton more time to work on it to make not only nemesis good but to also make the game not half assed

Let's not forget Mikhail. In the original, he was injured to the point of not being able to stand up for most of the game. Despite of this, he stood up like a badass and emptied his entire magazine on Nemesis. Nemesis knocked his head on the window, he still tried to pick up his gun. Nemesis threw him to the floor, he still refused to go down. He had exhausted every option that he had, and blowing himself up was the very last resort. In the remake, he fired a couple shots, got tentacled, and boom shitbird. That's it. No tension, no feeling of desperation. It wasn't even a fight.

I bought Re3R, and the amount of content compared to other resident evil games was miniscule, so it felt like it was worth less than what I paid it for. My reason being that it was too short compared to every other Resident Evil title since they had removed entire sections, like the clocktower, cemetery, city hall, and the park. All in all, I would have been way more forgiving if the price was $30 since I wouldn't have spent as much money on so little.

No no no. The clock tower bossfight in the original isn't epic, apart from maybe the cutscene. It was designed around the dodge mechanic which only works like 10 percent of the time. Also, the tentacle variant of the boss is extremely unfair if you can't dodge perfectly. I may be bias, but the clock tower boss in the original is an absolute mess. I never felt so frustrated with a Resident Evil game until then, and it's not the tank controls. It's bad game design

You forgot how they cut out gore and body physics (they were used in RE2R and later restored in RE4R) which severely impacted the feel of gunplay and that's why the combat action sequences like the hospital swarm feel so dull and lacking. This shows how much effort they put into the game and how unprofessional Capcom and the game testing team is for forgetting a simple detail that could significantly improve the gunplay (at least!)

Thank god for people like you exist. RE3R was an insult to the original developers. The original had so many cool features: branching paths which increased replayability, the GOOD kind of quicktime events(probably first game to feature this), DEEP ammo crafting(unlike RE7/RE2-4R's), the OG MERC mode with ACTUAL MERCS IN IT, THE NEMESIS aka the MOST recognisable RE monster/enemy/vilain, ICONIC ending, build in mini-randomizer for even better replayability. Not to mention the awesome CGI cutscenes like Intro Scene, Helicopter fakeout rescue, badass send-off of Michael and THE NUKE. Two years passed and I keep seeing people trying to downplay the OG RE3 like it was some filler and nothing special, often admitting that they barely played Resident Evil Nemesis. Couldn’t agree more. I preordered and played the demo. Imagine my disappointment when I realised the demo was the ENTIRE city section. Mr X was so scary in the remake because he was A stalker enemy. Nemesis changes way too quickly. Iconic location from the original relegated to Easter eggs. Clock tower in the distance. The Jewel puzzle just being for upgrades. Although it is not nearly as bad as RE3 Remake overall, the RE2 Remake arguably did not fully deliver either. As a result of its content cuts, the RE2 Remake feels unfinished to me even on its own merits (low enemy variety, barely any default music in the levels, plus the campaigns' A/B scenario structure being thrown in at the last minute and half-baked). As for the RE4 Remake, I think it is still too soon to say, whether that is a proper full effort remake. We are still waiting to see how the “Separate Ways” expansion turns out. And content from original RE4’s base game has seemingly been delayed to accompany “Separate Ways” (like the U-3 boss fight, the gameplay from “Assignment Ada”, Wesker/Ada in Mercenaries Mode, and the fourth Mercenaries Mode map).

You really explained the changes to Jill SO well, and actually have made me understand the issues people have with her redesign. I definitely have always had my issues with REmake3 but I’ve never minded the changes to Jill, but you’ve made me rethink that. There’s so many nice moments in the original that we don’t have in the remake. Like when you first meet Mikhail in the cable car, if you leave and come back there’s a really nice cutscene where Mikhail kills a bunch of zombies and calls them monsters, Jill responds by saying yes they’re monsters, but they’re also the victims of Umbrella, they were humans before being monsters, and he shouldn’t be taking it out on them. It’s such an amazing moment because it shows how empathetic and caring Jill is, she is not happy about having to kill her fellow citizens. It also hit me pretty hard because I never actually thought of it that way, I remember my jaw hanging open when I first seen that cutscene because of what a realization that was. So much of that depth is lost in the remake just so Jill can tell the Nemesis to “suck it” like a bad ass.

I mean, he kinda did it here, it just wasn't as impactful since it was so early in the game and Jill getting an actual rescue at that point would've been hilarious. Instead, he specifically targets and kills the train civilians that Jill spent the early game securing a rescue path for. Which results in an explosion where he's shown burning alive and presumably drowning in the river complete with a funny comment from Jill about him being unable to swim until Nemesis stage 2 leaps out of the river, looking to have gone through the Tyrant equivalent of a Licker transformation. The really funny thing is that this game is full of Terminator references. That specific imagery with Reese and the gas truck is utilized after Nemesis shoots down the helicopter and Jill crashes a car into him and over the side of the parking garage. The car explodes causing a huge fireball which engulfs Nemesis and Jill is relieved... then the still-functioning and now maskless Nemesis tosses the flaming wreck aside, continuing to carry out its mission. The scene even uses similar music. After the transformation, the game uses Aliens references for Nemesis instead of Terminator ones.

19:56 I think it's worth pointing out that Carlos' rifle is a ridiculous peashooter. You can empty a clip from supposed assault rifle to some zombies head, and they likely will come back up afterwards. Instead of that, shoot 4 bullets from a handgun and the zombie is permanently gone. During a moment of immersion in a Carlos section, I started to wonder if I could break a computer screen by shooting at it. I literally thought "ah but I need to swap to pistol to actually do some damage to it". The game would feel more intuitive if the assault rifle texture was swapped to some kinda water pistol.

The one thing I did like about Jill was at the very beginning where it was established she was clearly traumatized and recovering. If they were going to mess with her personality, I would have preferred they focused on that aspect because it was both nicer and because it would make sense.

3:23 THIS is unironically my biggest gripe with the game. She takes a single gun from the officer and gets a whole ass costume change with gloves, an elbow sock, and gun holsters, in literally just the time it takes for the camera to zoom into the officer and then back out. I know that sounds stupid but it bugs me like crazy.

I think it's not so terrible as in RE2 where Leon goes back to the Main Hall after the cut-scene where he meets Marvin and is suddenly wearing a police uniform. Where did he get it? The locker room is blocked off. Was there a uniform sitting in the Main Hall for Leon to put on? Who's idea was "hey i know there's zombies everywhere, but let me quickly play change clothes."

*Resident Evil 3 (Remake) - one of the worst games I've ever played. It's simply disgusting.* From the very first minutes, I began to suspect a lack of care for the project - and so it turned out to be, as I progressed through the "story". In quotes, because there's no plot here. Even a regular 22-minute cartoon from the 90s, for example, has a lot more plot than this shameful game. The plot and the staging of scenes are so terrible that you stop (by "you" I mean a literate person respecting common sense) empathizing with the characters and showing interest in the plot, you just say, "screw it". - And that's what I did. It feels like an _important big shot from CAPCOM_ really wanted to buy "something very expensive", so he pressured the developers to release this piece of ****, or clone RE2 (remake) and release this under the name "RE3". The game is so small (in every sense) that it takes less than 4 hours to get through☠ Anyway CAPCOM has sullied its reputation.
