Just finished my first no death no save run of RE4 and I feel great! I love this game and I love the fact that people are still playing it! RE4 is one of the greatest games of all time, if anyone who is reading this hasn't played it, go buy it and play it now. You won't regret it. With the thing they talk about at ~34:35 --that's actually true of a lot of games, not just this one. The devs will program the AI in such a way that they're a lot less likely to attack you if your camera is pointed away from them, since it's never fun to get blindsided, y'know. Good thing to keep in mind the next time you're having trouble with an enemy encounter in whatever game you're playing.

My brother showed me this video and it inspired me to attempt my very own speed run. Now mine was not world record setting but i did complete new game pro in 3 hours and 2:57 secs. The U3 and Krauser fights remind me of my first ever playthrough of this game. I completely ran out of ammo against U3, went guns blazing in with my knife and he died after 2 slices. For Krauser, I could not beat him whatsoever and by accident I got him in a corner just like that and knifed him to death. So many memories of this game.

My friend and I used to play with two tvs and do casual races. We had special rules for our game, which had to be on replay mode. 1: Choose one gun, upgrade it, and you cannot use any other gun but the one you chose. (Striker final 100 ammo upgrade banned, no infinite ammo guns allowed) 2: You cannot use any health items except for eggs and fish 3: Knife and Grenades are allowed 4: Item briefcase can be maxed out. Playing this way has been very interesting. There are sections where one a gun type dominated while other sections where its awful. I remember going for a shotgun type during a run, and there are sections where it is incredibly difficult with it, such as rescuing Ashley from the locked bars and you have to shoot them off from far away. But it is quite an experience. By the way, you can "farm" eggs from chickens by walking in an out of the loading doors where chickens can be on the other side. But they are only around at the beginning of the game with the farm. Better stock up! We both managed to get to the island where you first meet JJ, but we always ran out of ammo by that point. Maybe after watching this and how I can get around certain sections to save ammo, I could try it again?

Never been a fan of the franchise but this game won me over. I love the story, combat mechanics and mood and ambiance of the game overall. It felt completely different from it's predecessors and games that came after.
