Yeah me neither. I'm lucky enough to never have experienced any sort of motion sickness in VR so I've been able to use the normal continuous motion in games from the get go, but there are folks who just can't do it and have to use teleportation.

Actually theres a tunnel option that really helps with motion sickness so people who normally use teleport can now use motion . It works really well. Actually this game has the best options i ever saw for a VR game. I dont get motion sickness, but I have extensive nerve damage that limits my VR playing. But this game has the best sitting mode i ever played in VR, so it allows me to actually enjoy it(unlike most fps vr games that I cannot enjoy because of my health issue)

Right? When I played my first non-VR horror game, I was scared, but eventually I became accustomed, and they didn't really scare me anymore. But playing my first VR horror game brought me right back to square one, even the smallest things were scary, no matter how rough-looking the animation and modelling was. It was hard to play through! I'm starting to become accustomed again, I've successfully played through a few horror games since then!

Despite it's price, the Quest 2 is a SHOCKINGLY good VR headset. The specs are surprisingly high, it can be used without a PC, but you can also connect it to a PC for SteamVR games! I have a Quest 2 and a Valve Index, but if I only had a Quest 2, I'd be happy!

Buzz killer over here! That was one of the worse options posible. The way you deal with the crows is by throwing in a Flash. It kills them all and you get another Flash from the central crow. Using a grenade usually allows a few crows to survive like in the video (unless it’s a perfect throw). A grenade can be sold for 2K while a flash is only worth 500. So in conclusion the clip has a very negative value compared to best scenario. But like I said in the beginning, this comment is just a buzzkill since the clip is far from perfect 🤣

I just did the El Gigante and the Lake Monster, and the boat fight was some of the most fun not even in VR but in recent time. With the full 'immersive' mode, it was a fantastic feeling to scramble for some harpoons, while trying to steer your way out of danger. Makes me wish there were more parts like it.

11 hours deep so far, half way through the island. I’ve played through the original games probably 15 times. A lot of the combat exploits stay. Shoot/kick/stab was the best method. I FLEW through this game with relative ease

I hate when people act as if "Tank Controls = Bad = Removing them = Better game" The entire game was design around this type of movement, the controls works perfectly fine with the environment and challenges the game throws at you. It's just a different style, that's it, It's not BAD nor either "dated" in my opinion, It's just different, just like when RPGs transitioned from Turn-Based style to a more Real-Time action, being in real-time doesn't make the game better, It's just a different style, this doesn't make turn-based style RPGs obsolete so they shouldn't ever come back. At the end, RE4 VR looks incredible, a completely different take on the original game! Altough it looks a bit broken, the VR playstyle is a lot more focused on the movements of our body than necessarily overcoming complicated challenges so I think it's fine, If I had the money I would certainly buy!

This is the smoothest and best playing game on the quest 2. The graphics are quite clear as well, it makes me wonder what they could really do with the hardware if they #1: let go of the quest 1 and #2: got bigger developers to work on the games.

The reason the graphics are so clear is because the core game and assets are literally from 2004 and RE4: VR was originally developed for Quest 1 BEFORE being moved to being a Quest 2 exclusive (as the Q1 just couldn't quite stick consistent framerate stability). This means that it's one of the FEW native Quest games that run at the full 1920x1860 per eye display resolution (aka absolutely no upscaling involved). But even for proper Quest 2 exclusives though (as basically every new release of the past 1.5 years has been) that kind of render resolution simply isn't sustainable if combined with modern graphics & GPU shaders running at a locked 90fps/Hz. 🤷 You have to choose. Either your game can look like a game from 2004 with upscaled textures and have a RIDICULOUSLY sharp & clear native resolution presentation OR it can look like a modern game but run at a lower internal resolution then upscaled to fit the screen with more obvious blurriness & upscaling/interpolation artifacts. Until Quest 3 hits you just can't have it all yet.

Teleportation movement is definitely NOT the way to go for this one. Smooth immersive movement is way better and fixes your issue with counter moves feeling clunky. You can move and shoot at the same time and not have to teleport 6 inches every time to want to pick up another item on the ground right next to you. Smooth movement is definitely the way to go for this one.

3D audio is great and a huge improvement, but the actual quality of the sound effects themselves are the same. It didn’t take me out of it tho since the 3D positioning was on point. Like the visuals, games designed natively for VR just don’t translate well over to the flat screen.

And totally agree about the controls: Never got past the first half hour in previous versions because I hated the controls and camera, but I'm absolutely loving it in VR. What this game has shown me is that the Quest 2 is a far more capable VR device than I thought up until now; every game I've played on it has felt very compromised or "small" and limited in some way, especially compared to what we can get on flat-screen systems. This is absolutely no longer the case, and I will be very disappointed if I don't see many more full-experience games as polished and well-done as this going forward. I don't understand why the people use the tank controls as criticism of the game. For me, it was something that made the game so unique and memorable. You have to use all your movement very wisely, almost like ammo. It adds another almost puzzle like element to the game. It can be frustrating at first but once it clicks it's awesome and adds to the horror of the setting. It would just be another slasher without it.

Why are you warping...you can walk and its much smoother. Turn off tunneling, allow strafing, use smooth turn instead of snap, you have a buttery smooth experience. Might turn down smooth turn a bit too it does turn a bit too fast makes it blurry.

VR makes you OP in this game, being able to move AND shoot breaks the game, but in a fun way. I like taking the sniper rifle, walking up to an enemy point blank, and with one hand clipping the barrel of the rifle through their head and shooting for sn easy headshot

The cool thing is if you're hardcore about it, there's an option to turn movement off while aiming. Lots of options for everyone!

Pro tip if you're reviewing a vr game use locomotion not teleportation. Teleportation ruins your footage, makes some game mechanics unbearable (like the counter system), or makes you judge things based on your control bias.

@@colin3ds1 then dont review Vr... I lose my balance when I'm at extreme heights... I don't go looking for jobs repairing radio towers and wouldn't complain about it as a result. The review was ok, but I just felt like that was nit-picky and in bad taste to shit on a part of the game because of the way you choose to play it.

As great as the game is ( and don't get me wrong, I REALLY enjoy it ), I feel that the review kinda brush over a few issues. For all that has been remade for VR, quite a lot have also been skipped. For instance, when the useless spoiled brat jumps toward you, it cuts to a 2 second 2D video. That's jarring, break the immersion and is unecessary. She could have jumped while you remain on 1st person. Same for pushing ladders. Or when you use the eye to open the door. It's 2D cutscene for things that could have been replaced by a simple VR interraction. Or when you meet the merchant for the 1st time. Or the QTE event when a granado catch you. Or honnestly a bunch of very short videos that plays throughout the game. I would have hopped some of those scenes would have been re-animated to play with the game without breaking the immersion. All in one, extremely fun port, really enjoyable, with what really needed to be ported to VR correctly done. But also a port that stop short of really going all the way, and leaves quite a lot of little thing undone.
