I had a script with all collectibles and things to do. Honestly this run wasn’t difficult as this game is very predictable, even if there are rng elements to some bosses, all of them have an appropriate counterplay that works 100% of the times. After running The Last of Us on no damage, it got me used to long runs. I believe I lost 2-5 attempts in the early game - the intro of this game has some annoying random moments and back in the day, Bella’s strategy wasn’t the most reliable one. I’ve run this game in a no damage marathon setting with re7 and its DLC few months later even without using upgrades (it’s here in the channel too) and that alone proves that VoS is actually a pretty fair difficulty once you understand the nuances of the bosses. I wouldn’t say I love this game exactly as it has a few issues but I think it’s a pretty solid RE game with a very good variety of interesting boss fights. It definitely shines on the boss fights - and it has one of the best final bosses in the series - while the regular enemies aren’t good. It’s still one of my favorites off the RE engine games so far only behind RE7. I like the length of the run and the intensity of some fights.

This is still probably my favorite RE game, it’s really close with 2R/3R. I think it’s technically the best RE, like all the series’ best ideas and gameplay elements combined together with arguably the greatest setting and enemy variety. The other DLC for the base game was excellent (Mercenaries Additional Orders and Third Person Mode), but the Story DLC was a little weak; it was good, the concept was very interesting, and once you adjust to the time skip and treat it as it’s own separate epilogue to the main game/Winters’ storyline, you begin to appreciate it more. I think it’s very good and excellent at a few times (Beneviento House is still utterly terrifying), but not as good as 7 or 4’s story DLC (I like their base games less and yet their story DLC was better). But oooooh do I love Village, RE with werewolves is the best idea the series has had in years.

I also prefer RE Village to 7 but RE7 is more polished overall in its gameplay designs. The pandemic probably impacted a lot in its development/testing. I feel like if this game was delayed one year or so and properly improved/polished, it certainly would have been one of the best RE titles out there.

Delaying a game is meaningless if its development team doesn't have the brainpower to comprehend the designs they put into the game. -Putting Moroaicas in Bela's boss fight which completely messes with her AI. If the developers had brains, they would've already comprehended how exactly they designed their own AI systems and simply delete the Moroaica's from her fight. -Lycans having bad hitboxes, lack of knockback animations, poorly stitched together movement animations to create their overall movement, evade spamming, spammy long range grabs that multiple Lycans can do at once. The culmination of these factors makes every single encounter with them a cumbersome mess. Delaying a game doesn't solve that. -Input delay and input drops. Still haven't fixed those issues. -The knife in Village has a pointless delay after its second slash, forcing you to rely on block canceling to do continuous slashes. That plus the input drops make it a useless weapon. Modders not affiliated with New Capcom had to change the programming themselves to make the knife work like RE7 with practicality and common sense on PC. That's just sad. Just goes to show how laid back the developers were if they can't even design knife combat well. -Negligible enemy placements on VoS difficulty. Do absolutely nothing to change up the gameplay experience differently to earlier difficulties. -Putting in a knives out challenge in a game fundamentally designed with all the weapons in mind. That just shows how dense the developers were when not comprehending their own designs. They don't even bother acknowledging specific difficulties in their description of the challenge and they give the challenge 70000 CP. So they're rewarding players for making their game seem like it's 1% finished. And they want to give that challenge when their melee weapon combat doesn't even work. Delaying a game doesn't change that. -Push mechanic is largely useless and it doesn't even work when you have a melee weapon out. -They design a headshot counter against the Lycans where the animation only triggers if you're standing on flat ground or on a lower elevation than the Lycan, yet they want to favor a mountainous terrain where there are so many changes in elevation on the ground. Delaying a game doesn't fix that. That's just a small amount of things I've listed that delaying a game can't solve. There's too much to say. That's how much of a mess this game is and why RE4 and RE7 are miles better than this game. At least their development teams actually have brains. This game, while still having some charm to it, is an insult to RE4 and RE7 in terms of gameplay design and this development team is seriously out of their league and has to be the dumbest and most deluded development team I've ever seen, constantly going on about the supposed "hard work" they put into this game. Yet despite all this, I'm still playing Village, a game that splits my soul in two. And no matter what Village makes me think, I'm still looking forward to RE9 and what it will offer, but if Village is used as its template, it will not be good.

So it’s just a matter of staying close and in front of them. The other attacks can’t be guarded without taking damage.

Yeah I usually don’t but I wanted to showcase them as part of 100% run. It doesn’t matter because since I got so many treasures, I had more than enough money to upgrade what I needed.

Great video but VoS is one of the absolute laziest difficulties ever designed. They literally just gave every enemy 5x health and 3x damage and called it a day, no further effort considered.

There is more thought into it than it looks. It’s not just hp increase. I don’t think it’s necessarily a great difficulty but it definitely forces you to learn how to dodge and deal with most bosses without relying on easy firepower/stunlock methods. You also get more money from crows and boxes so it allows you to be more efficient with buying upgrades without having to kill enemies.
