Residents in Massachusetts towns urged to stay inside over mosquito-borne virus

The risk of a dangerous virus spread by mosquitoes has four towns in Massachusetts urging residents to stay indoors after dark until at least October. According to a local report, the town says it doesn't have the funds to spray away the potentially deadly pests. Tiffany Chan has details.

Actually, adult mosquitoes are most active after 5 pm. The recently hatched mosquitoes can fly after 12 hours, so some are out during day time depending on when they hatched. So, yes you have more of a chance to get bitten after 5pm.

Douglas, Oxford, Sutton and Webster - are at “critical risk” after a man from Oxford caught the virus. 6pm until 30 Sept. then 5pm after that until hard frost. Hope this helps! A horse in Plymouth also caught eastern equine encephalitis so the town is closing public outdoor recreation facilities for now.

I was a Marine stationed in Okinawa early 1990s and we had to be vaccinated against Japanese Encephalitis. The amount of mosquito bites my kids and I have gotten this year is no joke. Never seen something like it compared to 5 years ago. And this is the first year where I’ve seen multiple white and black mosquitos every time I’m outside, where as before it was super rare it seemed like

City should start fining homes with pools being neglected as well they are mosquito breeding grounds
