Which all colours can be used with epoxy? Can oil paint colour can be used?
@MKLGRMFineArt5 жыл бұрын
sorry for my late reply. You can actually use oils mixed with resin but I would personally go for inks, acrylics or just pigments. The oil in the oil colors can mess up things...

I LOVE Mrs Colorberry!!! She’s the best geode artist ever! And your tray is nice too Michael 😉👍🏻 I wonder because it’s wood, if you paint the back, or even the entire tray if that will help with warping?
@MKLGRMFineArt6 жыл бұрын
not so much. the plate itself is glued in there and I guess with a bit of pressure to make it fit. It is not much warped but even 5 millimeter is much on such a small plate....well...perhaps metal ones are better to use....
@sherryleggett16126 жыл бұрын
I may have missed it and it isn’t in your links below..is the white mixed in resin or is it acrylic paint. Also missing was the link to Mrs Colorberry store. An idea that might help your warped trays..what it you wet the bases on both sides and then weighed them down with books or something while they dried?
@MKLGRMFineArt6 жыл бұрын
All the paints were resin pigment pastes. Mrs.colorberry can be found on instagram with this name and her homepage is www.mrscolorberry.com/ when it comes to the warping...the bottom part is kind of glued and pressed into the frame so your approach would not work...tried it ;) but thankt so much :))

MKL GRM Fine Art I had the same question but still seem to have missed the answer in your response-I’m a bit slow today🥴. Are the pigments mixed into acrylic pain or resin-you can mix resin pigment into acrylic and resin which is why I’m asking....the end result, warp and all is pretty amazing btw;)😘

@MKLGRMFineArt4 жыл бұрын
don't really know what you mean, How often I poured resin before or how long I wait until I pour the resin into the form?
@lindagowin96146 жыл бұрын
Very beautifull colors. It reminds me of a purple iris. I have had a question for some time now and you probably know the answer. You said you put down acrylic base paint first. When I first started watching these tutorials they said you couldn't put resin over acrylics until it cured for a month. Has that theory changed.
@MKLGRMFineArt6 жыл бұрын
Linda Gowin hmm...I cannot Image even one reason why this should be so. You should not put resin over oils but this is just because it will not have an even cover due to the oil. When you use acrylics and the paint is dry I would just then go on. I did this with hundreds of paintings and I see no reason why anything should happen. Same with varnish. As you can even mix acrylics into the resin to color it...you know?! This is my point of view on that topic. And besides that...if you have painted on canvas the fabric will allow the paint to „breathe“ anyways...but even if it is MDF or wood...i would personally not bother...
@shaedesigns21986 жыл бұрын
Linda Gowin I think your brain did a litl’l switcharoo on ya-happens to me waaaay too often-cuz it’s ACRYLIC over RESIN that needs time to cure(resin needs to”cure”, whereas acrylic needs to”dry”;),& set completely before putting something else over/onto it. You prob figured all this out by now so pls forgive the redundancy🙏🏻

Michael.....again a winning video. Love your mind!! Question please; Will this resin allow for heated object on it like a hot coffee cup??
@MKLGRMFineArt6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Terri, yes it does. There are different kinds of resins. Normally regular cups and such with beverages are no problem at all. For everything beyond boiling point there are extra heat proof resins which withstand higher temperatures as well. But for regular every day use (what a service tray is suppost to handle...) you should be good. Normally each resin manufacturer also states the facts on the bottles :)
