Enjoyed the video and the finished product. You are absolutely right about mixing: once it's mixed - mix it some more.

Your videos are great, it’s becoming more and more rare to find quality content creators on KZbin! Started watching for your Egyptian faience videos, fantastic.

This was a fantastic video. The results of your project look great. I've been shying away from epoxy but this has me feeling confident I want to mess around with it now. I have some silicon molds that I thought would be good for clay projects but aren't. They will be just fine for this type of project. I also have lots of cedar available and I really like the look of it with epoxy instead of varnish.

Captain Mike could you please help me. My Microwave kiln produces beautiful shiny glass, but the bases are always rough. How can I resolve this. Great tutorial very informative. Thank you. 😊

The bases will always be a little rough. To make it better, put three or four coats of kiln wash on the floor of the kiln, sand that lightly and then use shelf paper to lay your work on. If your work must be shiny on the back side you have no option except to cold work the back with a diamond lap sustem. Hope this helps.

hello Capt Mike, thanks for your tutorials. Encouraging and helpful! I have a microwave clay question, don't know where to email it to you so I'll ask here. I brought a microwave kiln, seeing how you work with it. I have a small object in porcelain that I made years ago; thus, super bone dry. I fired the microwave 850W for 30 mins, it was bright orange. Still, the object cracks very easily. I wasnt expecting vitrifying but still. You have a video with a water clay cup which you fire and then glaze. I would like to make small xmas tree decorations in clay. Which clay should I use? I live in Europe but I hope I'll find smth similar to what you recommend. Thanks a lot!

I have used Porcelain without a problem . Most clay bodies including some of my "river" clay work well too. Dit your piece crack during the firing? If so it could have been too thick or had an air bubble in it. I find that with the MWK cups and such with thiner wall seem to give less problems. Remember, all clay bodies will bisque at around the same temps. It's the glazes that sometime run the temps up higher than the MWK can do. I find that firing in burst of 5 minutes until you reach the desired temps works best for me. Expect a few failures. It is the nature of the beast!
