I clicked on this because I was looking for a reasonable alternative to the screw vial. I love this idea. Not only is it very pretty, it is also very discreet. When it comes to the chunk factor. How about sifting the ashes. Put in the finer ashes first, then place the larger pieces in. Even if they don’t lay completely flat you can arrange them in a pattern. I personally love the organic look of the texture. Thanks for the information. It was exactly for what I was looking.

Hey! How does clear resin last on say an ashes ring? Will its stay clear or go cloudy over time? Can it just be buffed back to clear if it does go cloudy? Thank you!

I’m thinking about doing it myself, my problem isn’t even the price of the resin but the real gold for the ring. When my grandpa passed my grandma made a necklace with his ashes in real gold (my mom in silver) and he bought me a real golden necklace that he was never able to give me but my grandma did, so I’ve always worn gold. Now that my grandma has unfortunately passed on too, I’ve been given the golden necklace with his ashes and I’m not a “mix & match” woman so I really want a golden ring for my grandma (‘s ashes). I’m just wondering if there’s a way to coat a silver ring or a plated gold with resin to make it last? I can’t have fake gold because it turns bronze and my skin green.

The reason I don't gold plate is that in my experience it always rubs off and tarnishes. Clients always end up spending more money over time constantly having to replate it that in the end it's easier and more cost effective to just invest in gold, especially for a piece you will never take off. Most jewelers do have payment plans if your interested that might be an option.

For faceted, couldn't you use a mold to make a stone?

Yes we could use a mold but it will add quite a bit of labour fees to make a mold for every stone shape and size depending g o. What the client wants
