FINALLY...a product AND tutorial that does exactly as advertised! I purchased the starter kit and a few other items and set to work on making this Votive Candle. Everything went PERFECTLY! The product is first class - from the clear film I printed my pictures on to the easy and simple way the resin process works. I made this using pictures my friend sent me of her family and she just loved it! THANK YOU Ms. Fran for introducing me to a great new hobby!!!!!

Thanks nellie272003! This project is lots of fun, I have this votive on my desk and as the sun comes through the window the photos are projected across my desktop! Love it :) Great tip about the corner punches, and thanks for the suggestion on the cropping portion, I'll zoom it in next time. Appreciate the feedback, best wishes!

Also, to round corners, you can use a scrapbooking punch-rounder-to make the rounded corners on all sides of your projects the same. Jut a hint, if you are picky, like me :)

Hi Kathy! As long as you keep the flame at least 1" away from the sides, it should be just fine. You can also use one of those battery operated candles to be really safe :) And although I'd love to say "yes" to the coasters idea, there are a couple of reasons I wouldn't. 1) the resin is slippery, so without edges, and with condensation on your glass, it could slide right off. 2) the bottoms of some mugs are rough, and could scratch the resin. Let me know if you do try, and have fun!

Hello David, thanks for asking! I'm always using Little Windows Brilliant Resin, which you'll find in different sizes at little-windows (dot) com. It's the safest 2-part epoxy you'll find, and works really well with delicate things like photos. We also offer the high-resolution Clear Photo Film you see in this video, and the Doming Trays to make it easy.

Hello ColourStreams! Sorry for the delayed reply, my answers were going to the wrong video :( Anyway, I don't recommend printing with the Little Windows Clear Photo Film using a Laser printer, as they use heat to bond toner to the paper and can warp or even melt the film. Hope you have an inkjet handy, your ink will bond really well with the film. Thanks for asking!

This is a perfect gift idea for my brother and his family, maybe an anniversary gift :) Do you think this could work as a simple photo display if I didn't connect the last edges together? So it would be a little chain of photos instead of a box. Either way this is awesome :) Thanks for all your video tutorials!
@LittleWindowsResin10 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes it actually works really well that way - sort of like accordian panel display. That's how I usually have mine on my desk when I'm not using them around a candle, and black and white or color both look great! Have fun creating :)

What about color photos? If im not using for a candle? Was thinkin bout keep chains or fridg magnets? Will this film work?
@LittleWindowsResin Жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! Yes you sure can print in color on our Clear Photo Film, and you can use your creations for candles, nightlights, or just propped on a desk or in a window. I don't recommend magnets with this film, as the magnet would show through the back and may distort your image. Here's a link to the tutorial, in addition to the black and white votive shown in this video, you'll also see an example of one I made with my kids and pets that I have on my desk: www.little-windows.com/blogs/project-center/7836937-clear-photo-votives Thanks for asking :) - Fran

how do you make holes without the resin looking like it is cracking? is it best to use the drill u have?
@LittleWindowsResin8 жыл бұрын
Hi Jamille! The key will be to have a hard surface for the resin piece to push against as you drill through it, so place it on a piece of hard wood and hold it flat while you drill. You'll also want to be sure you drill straight down so the pressure is evenly distributed. Our Spring Drill is great for this, here's a link if you're interested: www.little-windows.com/collections/drills/products/spring-drill-new Have fun creating :)

It’s cute, but I would probably glue a square of resin to the bottom so it has a bottom to it just a thought
@LittleWindowsResin4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dina! Yep you sure can, I made a square wooden base for this one, with a smaller square in the middle that fits just inside the votive and it holds it in place quite well. Painted it white and the photos show beautifully. For another one I have the rings open at one edge, so when I'm not using it as a votive I can place it accordian-style on my desk. Have a look if you'd like, just scroll down in the post and you'll see the color print one: www.little-windows.com/blogs/project-center/7836937-clear-photo-votives

Hi Fran What size is the votive again??
@LittleWindowsResin10 жыл бұрын
Hi Shannon, you can make them 2-1/2" square, or 3" square, or even 2" x 3" rectangles, depending on how the photo looks best. You can also make this piece with 3 photos, making a triangle shape instead of a square. If you plan to do this, you'll want your photos to be more rectangular, I'd go with 2" high x 3" wide, to allow room for the votive. Have fun, and let me know how they turn out!

@LittleWindowsResin10 жыл бұрын
Hello Aleah! Yes, they look beautiful with color photos too, you may want to bump up the contrast in your photo, whether it's B&W or color, so that when it prints on the clear film it'll still be nice and crisp. Have fun :)

can I use acetate instead of clear photo film?
@LittleWindowsResin7 жыл бұрын
Hi Marion! You can but the resolution won't be as nice, and you'll have to do some testing to make sure the ink doesn't come off once submerged in resin, and that the ink color doesn't shift under the resin chemistry. Let me know how it goes :)
@craftyblackbird436810 жыл бұрын
hi where do you get the resin
@LittleWindowsResin10 жыл бұрын
HI Roberta! You can get everything you need at little-windows.com Our resin was developed to work with photos and make cool shiny little stuff, and it's the safest you'll find. I have come out with 2 new products since I made this video that are different than what's shown - we now have a Large Silicone Doming Tray that's awesome, and a Spring Drill that's also great. You'll see everything you need in our shop. Thanks for asking :)

que tipo de impresora necesito para usar este tipo de papel ? se necita un programa especial?.
@LittleWindowsResin10 жыл бұрын
Hola Abii! You'll need an inkjet printer for this type of paper, laser printers get too hot and can warp the film. Also, be sure to check out the extra tips at little-windows.com for Doming, you'll find that in our "Questions" (FAQ) section. You can use Photoshop, Microsoft Word, or any photo editing program to resize your pictures to fit, then cut them out any size you'd like. Have fun :)
