Hello everyone, This time I made resin geode coasters and I only used different shades of purple. I'm also combining different brands to see how they interact. Let me know what you think of my purple resin geode coasters. I will include the link to my coaster playlist. kzbin.info/aero/PLWqX7R3JwkuMyLPALwMjBsPvlZE3hXHUG

I really love your work!. Just beautiful! I have a couple of questions and I would be very grateful if you could help. 1. I was wondering how you avoid the tiny air bubbles around the edges of the coasters… I don’t dare to use the torch as it could destroy the mold. And 2. how do you seal the gold around the edge. Do you put another coat of resin, or varnish??? Thank you!
@petrajongbloed44252 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Blue Bird ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 To prevent air bubbles has a lot to do with the kind of resin you are using. If you use a thinner resin then you don't have a lot of air bubbles. A thinner resin has a great air release. I also never use a torch. I always use a heat gun. I seal the gold with another layer of heat resistant resin.
@bluebird62 жыл бұрын
@@petrajongbloed4425 thank you Petra. Very kind of you to give me this info! Very helpful for a beginner like me! 🌷and thank you for your amazing videos.
@allthefluff2 жыл бұрын
To get rid of air bubbles I use my embossing heat gun for the bubbles on the top of the resin. Then for the sides of the coasters, I use a silicone pointy tool, it doesn't mark the mold, but it's gentle enough to get rid of any bubbles that's round the edges. For the sides of the coasters, I've got a gold pen, but I've also used some clear varnish & my gold powder. They both are OK, I'm still learning how to do the edges, but I always practice on a resin piece that I'm not bothered about.
@soundmaster47174 жыл бұрын

I love your videos! ❤️ What can I do if the bottom side is not as shiny as the surface? Sometimes the effect on the bottom side is more beautiful. Do you determine which side you take as the bottom side and then you color the edges appropriately? Does the bottom side (which is on the table) get scratches with time?
@petrajongbloed44253 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your nice compliment Saida ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 You can sand the bottom and add a clear layer of resin. My coasters can normaly be used on both sides. I color the edges, but also the bottom and top then the client can decide which side to use. I use scratch resistant resin and if you use them carefully they will not get scratches.

@@petrajongbloed4425 Dear Petra, thank you so much for your prompt response. But sanding the bottom side each time would take so much time. Do you really put a clear layer on each side? Could you please recommend a brand who sells fantastic molds for coasters and trays? I would really appreciate your recommendation! 🙏

@@saidalimam7201 Yes, if the client wants a heat resistant clear layer then I will add it. I know a website where you can buy high quality silicone molds. They ship worldwide. I will add the link to the website. If you use my promo code then you will get 5% discount. My promo code is JustPaint5 moldsandshapes.com/nl/

Hi, Petra! New subscriber and clicked all notifications, shared and like. (You're welcome!) AND I went to your Etsy shop and purchased four mica powders from your shop! Cannot wait to get them! Then I went to molds and shapes and bought several molds. However, I forgot all about the discount codes in my excitement! :( boo hoo Anyways, I've been painting for 30 years now, and I am OLD now, so I also have many hand afflictions, including rheumatoid arthritis. But I MUST keep creating art! Therefore, I have been experimenting on art I CAN do....I started looking for resin art videos and how to's and I came across your channel. I must say, so far, it is THE BEST ONE ON KZbin!! GOOD JOB! I appreciate you sharing very much. Your work is what I would like to aspire to. New Fan, New Subscriber, New Lover of Resin ART! Hey....DO you think you could do some videos on shaping resin? You might have some, idk yet, but I will look....in case you have. if you have NOT, PLEASE DO!! I think they are also awesome!

Hi Karen, thank you so much for subscribing to my channel. I appreciate it a lot. I hope you will enjoy my video's. Also thank you for purchasing some of my mica pigments I hope you will like them a lot. Today (monday) all the post offices are closed, tomorrow I will ship your package. The geode mold is amazing and of a very good quality. You will like it for sure. I don't have a discount code for the mold and on my Etsy shop I have a discount code (SAVE10) of 10% discount if you order above 55 USD. I'm sorry for you that you have medical problems. I think you can do this kind of Art with your hands. I don't think it will give you problems with your hands. So nice of you to say that you think my channel is great. If you mean by shaping resin, making a bowl then yes, I'm already working on a video of making a resin bowl.

Petra love your video. Going to have a go for the first time. What is the alcohol you've added to the resin and colour you mentioned? And the gold paint? Thanks for any advice. Xx

Thank you so much for your nice compliment Michele ❤ I appreciate it a lot. 😀 I added 99% alcohol and I used Testors enamel gold paint. You can buy it on Amazon.

Hi, do you sand and polish them after they have cured?
@petrajongbloed44254 жыл бұрын
Hi Lilith, yes I do sand the small sharp edge. If the sanding is to visible I add a thinn layer of polyurethane gloss varnish.on top of that. Normaly I don't polish.

How do I know, when shopping on line, which resin is runny enough to do this? The stuff I got is way too thick to get this kind of effect.
@petrajongbloed44253 жыл бұрын
Normaly in the description of the resin you can find the viscosity. Low viscosity is a very thin resin. Medium viscosity has the thickness like cream and High viscosity is a thick resin. I like to use a medium viscosity resin. ❣😀

No, that is not necessary Denise.

Hi Holley, I used about 600 gram of resin to fill the mold. The coasters are then 1 cm thick.

Could you tell me the viscosity of the resin you use? sorry if you mentioned it in the video, i'm brazilian and i don't understand english very much!

I use a medium viscosity resin. So not thinn like water, but more like a honey consistancy.
