Hi there! The mold is plastic but you cannot use any plastic mold for resin. They have to say they're made for resin if not your piece will stick to the mold. The lighter is for popping the bubbles in the resin.

No need to bake - they harden on their own. Drill the holes with a jewellery drill, but wear a mask - you don't want to inhale any of the dust. Alternatively you can buy bails that you can glue to the back of the piece.

Hi! The molds are from www.little-windows.com They are made of a special shiny plastic and don't need mold release. You can use certain plastic molds not all molds will work with resin. In my opinion silicone molds are the best but these are also good.

@JaneDoe-xl5be
@JaneDoe-xl5be 7 жыл бұрын
edwardsrc7 There are three different types of Pebeo paints that all produce very different effects. Is it possible you didn't use all three like she did? Complete mixing of the Moon and Prisme is critical, especially for the Prisme paints. The first time I used the Prisme paints I did not mix them well enough. I was too anxious to start playing! :) As a result, I barely got any of the honeycomb effect. I was so disappointed and thought I just wasted a ton of money. I did some investigating and suspected I didn't mix them enough. I had success on my second try. So, if you indeed were using all three paints in same manor as in the video, my best guess is that they weren't mixed well enough.

what kind of paint is that can u get that from Michaels craft store
@JaneDoe-xl5be
@JaneDoe-xl5be 7 жыл бұрын
Charlene Butler These are three different types of paints by Pebeo paints: Pebeo Vitrial - thin, transparent paint (she used the blue color in a square shape), Pebeo Fantasy Prisme - opaque paint that forms honeycomb designs as it dries, and Pebeo Fantasy Moon - opaque paint that produces swirly pearlescent/metallic designs. These paints can be found at Michaels. However, I found that often the smaller Michaels stores don't carry them. They can be ordered at lots of craft stores online. Amazon carries them too. They are really fun to play with. I use them on polymer clay.

how long does the paint take to dry?
@JaneDoe-xl5be
@JaneDoe-xl5be 7 жыл бұрын
Sarah Fields Of course the drying times of these paints depends on the same factors that influence all paint drying times...paint thickness, ambient temp., humidity, etc. I have never used the Vitrial paint, so can't say what it's drying time is for certain, but I can't imagine it would be too different than the other two. In fact, since it is a much thinner paint, I suspect it would dry quicker. I have found the Prisme and Moon paints take at least 24 hours to dry. However, even after 24 hours I would use it or wear it if it's jewelry. It's dry enough to move on the the next step, adding resin, glaze, adding more parts to your piece, etc., but it's still not dry enough that it couldn't be damaged by dropping it or gouging it with something. I would give it a minimum of 48 hours, longer is better, before using it.

When working with smaller pieces, you usually remove the resins from the mould first to ensure you have full control over the extremely small quantity of anything being floated on top of the first layer, which will later fully encapsulated in resin. Without being able to see the edges, you may just pour too much which would head toward the sides of the mould instead of you floating it (working well within surface tension). This creates a dividing layer of paint which would stop the resin layers from being able to meet ; a resin 'sandwich' with the exposed layer of paint having less structural integrity than the resin on either side. Floating would ensure the paint can be fully encapsulated, ensuring the piece has overall structural integrity.

I take the pieces out of the mold so when I pour the second layer of resin it domes. If you leave the piece inside the mold and do a second coat it will have edges.
