Hi Caren, when I worked for Ford making mock-up logos and various dash components, we used denatured alcohol to get rid of resin bubbles. Some of our molds were rubber and plastic so that was the best option. You might give it a try and see how you like it. It's a safe alternative to flame if you're using molds that can melt.

It can't be snow cap for the white it has to be pinata white and some of the ranger inks don't drop for me, most actually. I can only get the petri effect with Pinata regardless of the type of resin I use.

I have been messing with resin for the last two weeks, and I love those Pinata paints. I've been pushing white through other colors for awhile. It works with the gold Pinata too! Never thought to try layering it though, cool idea! Also, you can dome the backside, protect the white on the back.

@carengoodrich5 жыл бұрын
allabouteveshop possibly. You have to experiment and even then it’s not foolproof. Also a thinner resin brand might cause the ink to drop too much. Art Resin brand worked pretty well for me.

Is the torch just to get rid of air bubbles? If so, all you have to do is be careful when mixing your resin and don't stir too aggressively (I've seen other videos on YT where aggressive stirring is for some odd reason recommended?). I've worked with resin for over 20 years and have never had issues with air bubbles. Even when one or two do show up, a little light tapping from under the table gets rid of them easily.
@carengoodrich5 жыл бұрын
Craft Escape yes the torch is for air bubbles. Seems like if you’ve been using resin for 20 years you might be at least familiar with why people use a torch?
@CraftescapeTX5 жыл бұрын
@@carengoodrich No, I only just started coming across it on YT videos in the last few months. I learned with jewelry resin from Rio Grande (I took a course from them way back when I first started) and they taught gentle "folding" instead of the vigorous stirring that I've seen lately, and light tapping from underneath or even on the sides of the table. Torching was never even once mentioned. That was my one and only class, and I've just used that technique ever since. I've also never had any air bubbles appear in my finished work, so I never had to go looking for other techniques. What I first learned works just fine for me.

Would the mixative snowcap work for white too? I can only find the Ranger ink.

@crissyblevins3355 жыл бұрын
After you sand mine always look chalky. How do I make them stay shiny?

Crissy Blevins the only thing you can do is “repaint” the sanded area with a fresh coat of resin.

Hi Caren great video. Do you ever find that the alcohol inks fade? I have seen several people say that they do and was wondering whether you have ever had any problems. Thanks
@carengoodrich4 жыл бұрын
Hi Elaine, I haven’t had any fading but yes it seems to be a fact that alcohol inks (like many other types of inks) are not as lightfast as acrylics, etc. Over time I guess you have to assume some fading. But I do have some AI paintings that are over a year old and they still look great. Do not let it deter you from having fun with AI.

To use the resin you have to mix equal parts of resin with the hardener? Can you use any clear epoxy?
@carengoodrich5 жыл бұрын
Erica Gelle yes it is a 50/50 mix. I have another video about mixing resin if you have never done it, check out my resin playlist. I have found the Art Resin brand works really well with this technique. Your results may vary with different brands.
@mariakeenan49084 жыл бұрын
When I added white, after they cured for 24hrs the resin had set but the white was outside of the resin and was still wet/tacky. The other colours were fine.
