Thanks for this video!! What was the (x) in 4:07? I mean What is the step needs to be avoided in sealing the paper? Can I use mod podge to seal paper/photos or do you prefer spray? And If it’s laminated Paper, do we still need to seal? Can sealant be glossy or non glossy, which one do you prefer? Thanks

Thank you for the tips - bubbles have been a constant thorn in my side since I started working with resin. I have a question though... You mentioned that cold temperatures are not good for resin, but what about humidity? My wife and I have a back and forth debate about which is worse - heat or humidity. We are in Washington state (the western side), so the temps don't stay above 75-85 very often, but what we do have is humidity. The air usually feels damp. Since water and cold are both enemies of resin, do you think humidity plays a factor? If so, is it as harmful as the cold? Thank you!
@Artresin
@Artresin 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, humidity can definitely cause problems for your resin. You pointed out that water is an enemy of epoxy resin and you are right. Too high of humidity can result in a cloudy surface on your cured piece. We recommend keeping your humidity at 50%, but you can work with anything below 80%. If you are concerned about humidity it can help to run a dehumidifier in your workspace to keep it at a suitable level.

Hello mam. It is really a great information. I am new in resin work. I recently tried a lotus flower silicon mould of candle holder. But found some bubbles gathering at the base . I used a barbeque lighter. But it did not work. Can you help mam what can I do to avoid bubbles
@Artresin
@Artresin 2 жыл бұрын
The flame from the lighter should clear any surface bubbles away easily. Be careful when using a flame with a silicone mold as it can damage the mold and cause the resin to stick. You can also use a spritz of isopropyl alcohol on the resin surface once you pour it, this will usually clear any surface bubbles and reduces the risk of damage to the mold. Using a warm water bath to warm up your resin and hardener prior to mixing can also help reduce the amount of bubbles in your piece.

Love your resin, it's easy to work with however I do have a problem. Every once in awhile I get a little speck or two on the surface of my painting that I missed while it was still wet. I have dealt with it as you suggested' (sanding etc) It works, however when the art piece is a large one it can be costly. Is this the only solution?
@Artresin

Unfortunately spot fixing will always show, sometimes more than the small flaw you are attempting to correct. The best way to achieve a perfect finish is to do a full second pour to correct any surface imperfections. Aside from that, you can adopt the belief that there is beauty in the imperfection and just leave it alone!!

Thanks for the great tips. I am new to resin. I’m noticing tiny chips but I can deal with my finger nail. They don’t really look like bubbles though. Any suggestions? Also, I missed an edge on one of my favorite pieces and I’m afraid that if I use sandpaper I’m going to scratch the house paint off from underneath where it’s not covered by resin. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you!
@Artresin
@Artresin 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, you can fix a surface imperfection by sanding the surface and smoothing out the imperfection, then pouring on a fresh layer of ArtResin. For your piece that you need to re-coat to cover the missed edge you can just lightly sand the resin surface and avoid the exposed painted area, the sanding is simply to give the next layer some tooth. Once you clean off all of the sanding residue, just pour a fresh layer to coat the artwork. If you need anything please reach out to us at support@artresin.com :)

If you don't have a torch can you use a hair dryer instead? It's just I am a beginner and don't want to go out and buy a torch yet in case things don't work out and I have to give up on resin. Thanks
@Artresin
@Artresin 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ivone, a hairdryer heats the resin and makes it runnier and ends up blowing your resin around quite a bit-it can get quite messy. Please have a look at this blog that explains different methods of removing bubbles and their pros and cons: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/how-to-use-a-torch-with-resin?_pos=7&_sid=671162564&_ss=r

Thank you for the video. I have a little doubt with top coating my piece. I make a geode tray, when it cured there were a few bubbles at the bottom which lead to holes on the surface (bottom side is supposed to be the top side after it's cured). Do I need to fill those holes and sand them before top coating or I can simply top coat them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. ☺️
@Artresin
@Artresin 4 жыл бұрын
You won't need to fill them first. Just sand your piece and apply your top coat, the resin will fill them in and you will have your holes filled and a beautiful top coat all in 1 step :)

I’m new to doing resin earrings and after I pour in my resin to the mold, small little groups of bubbles form that don’t pop with fire, and if I try my heat gun, the resin will fall out of the mold.. any tips??
@Artresin
@Artresin 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Analese, try to make sure your resin and hardener is warmed up to a little warmer than room temperature before you mix it, this will help reduce bubbles. Making sure your ArtResin is poured in 1/8" layers will allow the bubbles to rise out easily. The heat will clear any bubbles that rise to the surface, (we don't recommend using fire on a silicone mold) so trapped bubbles are more about prevention- Stir slowly, warm resin, 1/8" pours. I hope this helps 🙂

I keep seeing people using pressure pots. Is this recommended with art resin? I only buy art resin. Maybe I use the wrong resin?
@Artresin
@Artresin 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rhonda, you do not require a pressure pot to use ArtResin. The pressure pot is used to remove bubbles and often only used when doing a deeper pour, rather than using ArtResin as a surface coating. When poured at its intended thickness-approximately 1/8", the bubbles are able to rise out to the surface on their own and can be removed with a torch.

@@Artresin so, I should not be using art resin for things like a light bulb mold?
@Artresin
@Artresin 3 жыл бұрын
@@rhondaziara3653 if you pour in layers you will have less issue with bubbles, if bubbles aren't a concern then you can probably pour in deeper pours. Tinting your resin can help hide any bubbles that don't quite escape.

@Artresin
@Artresin 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, if the bubbles are on the surface of the resin or close to it, you can sand the cured resin to remove them, then you can pour a fresh layer of ArtResin over the surface to restore the glossy finish. Once you pour the resin make a quick pass with your butane torch to zap off any bubbles that have risen and then cover your piece to cure. If you have questions specific to your piece, feel free to send us a photo to support@artresin.com

@Artresin
@Artresin Жыл бұрын
You could use a lighter if you like, it is really only suited to small items. Keep in mind that if you are using silicone molds it is best to avoid the use of a flame as it can damage the mold. You can use a spray of isopropyl alcohol to clear bubbles from the surface of your molds.
