Fun Fact: This song was ORIGINALLY composed by Abdullah Siddiqui (pronounce sid-deek). The studio just added some mixing and twiking to the original song. The song was written by Abdullah himself. At the time of the production he was only 18 yrs old. This kid is a musical prodigy.

They used a laser harp - is that the same as d-beast? Abdullah is about 20 now and he writes his own songs. He also did musical arrangements for many Coke Studio 14 songs. Check out his songs Surface, Magenta Cyan, and On our own. He is creative and his songs are not really main stream pop but they say a lot.

I was literally waiting for your reaction on this song. I kept checking YT to see if you had posted and viola, you finally did. I think it’s safe to say that you are posting around midnight your time these days, right? Abdullah was only 18 years old here in the song and what’s amazing about it is that he composed and arranged this song all by himself. Again, the musical genius / producer behind the song is Xulfi - same dude who produced this years amazing Coke Studio Season 14. He discovered Abdullah actually right here in this season of Nescafé Basement. Abdullah then not only went on to feature in different Pakistani songs later on but also did the Go song in Coke Studio 14 as you mentioned. Good memory there btw. I see that you had started to recognize familiar artists now. Pay attention to the electric guitar players and also the drummer with curly hair in most Nescafé songs. The bunch of them went on after this show to make Karakoram. Sherry sang Ye Dunya song. I recall you liking his vocals and his scream in the end of course (no pun intended re: Linkin park lol). So he is playing a lot of electric guitar in Nescafé Basement songs. And he will feature in one of his original songs here too called Fanaa. It’s in the list. Hope you will like that one too. These musicians were so young back then. Not sure if you will be able to recognize the clean shaven Sherry there but Bilawal on drums (curly hair guy) is pretty recognizable. Jim, there’s another song featuring most of the drummers of Pakistan - it’s a beautiful song sung by Xulfi’s band, Call. It’s not a part of Coke Studio or Nescafé but it’s worth checking out if you want to see a crazy act involving multiple (like 30+) drumming together in harmony. I was blown away at just how amazing that song went without sounding off. You know it’s hard to get even 2 drummers harmonize together in sync; let alone so many of them. Do check it out. @@mominaabbas3406 Thanks for the thumbs up on that one. My mind was thinking along the lines of Pepsi and Coke and Nescafé so I missed out on Patari. But I remembered it when someone mentioned it and of course, I recalled the surge of patriotism that the song produces in its entirety. I have been trying to find English lyrics to the song but haven’t been successful. It will be hard for Jim to understand it without it. I want him to truly grasp the emotion behind it. I’ll keep looking…I would have translated but i worry butchering it.

@@mominaabbas3406 you are absolutely right about Ahad missing from the performance. And also, I didn’t notice the late Farhad Humayun in there either. It was still such a treat for the ears to hear this anthem; I can never get enough of it. Truly underrated. You have too much of faith in me that I would even remotely be able to do slight justice to the translation. I’ll try but I think poetry needs to flow properly in its syntax and word to word translation takes away the beauty of rhyming and even the true meaning of the verse. It’s a heck of a job so can’t promise anything. I compiled another big list of miscellaneous Pakistani songs but again, I don’t want to overwhelm Jim with Pakistani music now so keeping it sweet and simple to the big three shows and some other songs that left an impact in music. His dedication to exploring this unknown territory is commendable indeed. Thank you for your kind words and feedback. Appreciate it 👍😊
