very late but better late than never.sry for u...very similar facts apears in the book of marco sidonio about the slavery on rome...how to manage good your slaves...the content is very explicit about the mentality of slaver. u are a tool but a tool which can speak. they think things like this. Miss, what do you mean by there was no concern about the slave's soul until the 18th century?

The planters in the British West Indian colonies did not consider the soul their enslaved. That means that they didn’t care if they were Christians they did not try to convert them to Christianity. As a result there was no provision in the law to ensure that they got religious teachings and conversion and baptism and any religious experience.
