I'm putting together my own ev cart. I'm working with a cushman GE series wound motor, I have an sr480300 altrax controller, and I'm going to use an Albright dc182 f/r switch. I've looking for wiring diagrams for those. Would you happen to know/have a diagram showing how these wire into the system? The most information I've found so far is from this video. GREAT JOB!

@@scottyb4606 I eventually found a diagram. The altrax diagrams were a little confusing but I found someone to explain it and now I'm running a joystick as a 3 way switch for the f/r switch.

I have 2008 ruff and tuff golf cart, and I can't fine a wire diagram for this one I need install the contactor, any idea how to doing?

Scotty B? Do you know, how does one determine the exact value diode to use, for instance, for a MZJ-800 amp solenoid switch? This is on a John Deere ME-1004 ev conversion project, using a 470 ohm resistor, as you covered in this video. We're using a 48 volt battery, if that matters? Can i use a 15amp 45 volt 15SQ045 fly-back diode ?

We use the 1n5408 3 amp 1000 volt flyback diode on all of contactors for 36 and 48v operation.

Your top right solenoid has what looks to be a diode on the large terminals...my cart is like this...educate me please...thanks

The large diode is used with the Alltrax XCT controllers when installed in Ezgo or Club Car. This diode prevents system damage should the controller be turned off while the cart is in motion.

Hello Scotty, thanks for the video. I just want to confirm on the MZJ-400.. this solenoid does not have polarity on the large terminals and can go either way? As long as you match the banded diode to the pos you assigned it? I am seeing some info on line about the 1 and 2 that is labeled on the solenoid indicating positive and negative and it’s confusing me. Thank you!!

Sorry for the late reply. The MZJ400 type solenoid has no polarity on the large or small terminals. You choose which terminal to use for + or - and then install the diode accordingly. The battery main + can connect to either large terminal.

What diode is used on this sw202 switch. I bought this years ago and one of the diodes broke in half and I cant read the writing.

Does the diode and the resister go on the large terminals? You are showing only diode no resister. I have the same solenoids.

My 2001 Txt. Wouldnt move so bypassed reed switch..fixed problem very temporarily, took off smelled wiring burning. Positive cable burned in two at solenoid, repaired cable, now wont move again, jump across solenoid and it will. Fuses good thinking diode or resistor burned? Any thoughts

usually diode goes on the small terminals and resistor goes on large, unless you have EZGO DCS which has a resistor diode board across the large terminals

@@jimhoover4060 any luck? if you shorted the solenoid and that worked my guess would be your solenoid got fried. the diode keeps flyback current from damaging solenoid over time. resistor keeps your controller at same voltage so it doesn't arc. make sure you have an appropriate fuse in your wiring.

Turns out the tow run switch connector was damaged..tested good but further closer inspection revealed a pin problem within, had to call in an expert but price was very fair

The diode is marked on the negative end and because of its purpose you install it in reverse so the emf blows back through the diode. You need to correct this somehow cause you getting it backwards like that could be a huge costly mistake for people following directions on a website.

You're not correct sir. You are correct in your thinking in a normal situation, but in the golf cart world, it's cathode to positive.

trickles a charge to the capacitors in the controller so they're not hit so hard every time you step on pedal.

No just the electric carts, and then only on the series type drive systems.

No. The resistor is used to pre-charge the capacitors in an electronic speed control, thus extending the life of both the controller and the solenoid.
