Resizing Tab and Slot Assemblies in LightBurn

In this video I try to explain how to resize tab and slot components to work with the thickness of the wood you are using. For example how to change a design that was made to work with 1/8 inch thick wood work with 1/4 inch wood.

14:46 you will need to adjust the slots inward (down on the video) so the top and bottom of the box fix snugly as the wood thickness will now have it stick out above the sides when it sits on the corner shelf. In other words, the corner pieces need to sit lower to allow for the new wood thickness. The new size slot needs to be .25 from the top edge.

Thanks, nice tutorial. Good tips! If the design is made properly and the seperate parts are seriously well aligned to the sides, you could grab ALL the nodes of one side of both sides for instance. That would reduce the work by half. So instead of going round first left side, than below then right side, you could do the right side of both in one go. But only when they are properly aligned!

Good Point, LightBurn has Arrange/Align tools that make aligning the left edge of the two sides very easy to do. You just need to be sure you have grouped all the shapes that belong to each side together first to prevent anything from moving that was not supposed to move.

Following someone else's suggestion first, I made a new request for parametric dimensioning in Lightburn. I also was shot down because Lightburn is for CAM and only has very basic CAD functionality. I'd suggest, instead of going through all the work you did, just move the project into a CAD program and set those items to PD and adjust from there. I've been going about this issue the exact same way you have done in your very nicely done video but in the end it's suggested from the general community to go to a dedicated CAD software. Thanks for the video and tips!

I wonder if Lightburn's new virtual array could be used in some fashion for all this. Just got LB and am working through the learning phase so I don't know the answer myself. Good stuff!

Save some wood for future use.... Move corner tabs into the circle cut-out and make them "first cut".

I know the overall size might matter, but what about after blowing everything up. Go back and shrink the fan and screw holes
