Hi, good clear explanation, however, Iam a solo guitarist/singer playing to drums and Bass on ipad, can I have my visuals auto play, perhaps linked so that when the track starts the visual will start too? I will be using a good spec Mac book pro,
@SeanBowes
@SeanBowes 2 жыл бұрын
Yes if you are using a software that allows you to send out osc, midi, or timecode signals - thats what will allow you to communicate between your audio software and resolume and tell it what track is playing and what visual should play to go with it. There are a few different ways of doing this, but searching those things should get you pointed in the right direction! Feel free to hit me up on instagram or via email if you want to get more specific about it.

very nice Sean, I wonder if there is a auto fade in and fade out between clips and column switching without have to manually move the fade slider. Thanks
@SeanBowes
@SeanBowes 2 жыл бұрын
There is a Transition Time control (View>Layer Transition Controls) that you can set so the clips fade to the next one over that amount of time. to go black you could use that and go to a blank or black clip before going to the next one. If you have the latest version you might also be able to use the Crossfader Phase feature to achieve this as well. Check out the Resolume youtube channel, its their latest video currently. Crossfader Phase tutorial. It lets you map effects to the crossfader position, so you could follow their tutorial with a solid color effect set to black so that it goes to black at the midpoint of the crossfader.

Dope! I’m in the corporate scene here in Orlando. At 19:20 you mentioned frame element what’s that mean- would you be able to rephrase that? Thanks
@SeanBowes
@SeanBowes Жыл бұрын
I am referring to branded graphics that frame the screen and have a window cutout for the rest of the VJ content to play through. Some concerts use these to tie in the screens to the scenic elements of the stage design or to extend the branding of the stage. I often want to treat these differently than my VJ content, so I use groups to separate different categories of content in my shows.

@@SeanBowes yes just watched :) Figuring out what to map to which know and buttons.
@SeanBowes
@SeanBowes 2 жыл бұрын
Great. This is something that people do very differently, so its hard to teach. But my advice is to think about what you will need control over in your specific show and make a simple control for it. Do you need effects? What kind of effects? Are those effects best activated quickly with a button, or smoothly with a knob or slider? Do you need control over colors? Do you need specific clips at your fingertips? Or can you use the mouse for that? Remember that the mouse and keyboard are very useful tools even if you use a midi controller, so only use the midi controller for things that it is good at - like smooth control across a range of values with sliders and knobs, or rhythmic activation with buttons. Think, plan, and execute. and dont be afraid to revise after testing it out. Good luck!

@SeanBowes
@SeanBowes 8 күн бұрын
Undo is ctrl z like always (after version 6). I have a video about some shortcuts you can use. Search Hotkeys on my channel. ‘Hotkeys’, because resolume also has ‘keyboard shortcuts’ that is more like midi-mapping your keyboard than keyboard shortcuts for software functions itself. Hotkeys are for software functions like adding layers, undo, save, add a deck, create a group, etc

@@SeanBowes Thats amazing! does saving too many compositions overload the software?
@SeanBowes
@SeanBowes 2 жыл бұрын
No not really. One thing to watch out for is Decks. When you Save As and re-use a composition, the decks save with it even if you close them. These can accumulate and make it difficult to use the Media Manager to find missing clips or to Collect Media because it looks through ALL of the decks instead of just the active ones. So you should Remove unused decks before starting a new project with a re-used composition. You can always pull them back in from the previous composition if needed using the Compositions tab.
