Resolume Live Stream: Using Slice Transforms

Listen to Joris awkwardly talk to himself about slice transforms and how he doesn't understand stage left/stage right
For everybody asking about how to get the stage view in the top right of the screen: it's explained (clumsily) at around 01:44:00 in the video. Resolume sends out the composition output via Syphon. This stream gets captures in another instance of Resolume running in the background and warped to fit a picture of the stage. That then gets sent via Syphon again to OBS, where it's placed in the top right.
If that sounds complicated, it's because it is.

Fun fact stage right and left originated in theatre. The director needed to instruct the actors on stage but they needed instructions from their perspective. So stage right and left are from the perspective of the performer on the stage.. Just to make it easier, the terminology is now used for all stages

Super interesting. especially how you put emphasis on working more with the input than output channel. cant wait to try that out

Totally cool. Just a little tricky to follow the tiny mouse to see what's being done on screen to accomplish these procedures.

Awesome work, as usual... On a side note, can you guys please think of some some undo options? Specially for midi mapping when sometimes he hit the wrong slider and have to find out latter were the hell we did something wrong... Also sometimes we move things around in our work area just to find out that the past view was better... Undo option would do magic! As long as it does not mess up with the speed and stability of the program, of course!

Yeah, we use black magic capturing devices, but I don't think Resolume guys would like to have their brilliant work resumed as the name of another company... How about "colorized magic" kkkkkkkkkk #sarcasmdetected

In a classic set: Stage R and Left are reference when standing on stage looking out at audience. House R and L are referenced when looking at stage from house. (Hence House R/L :) videos are great keep making them please

I remember an explanation that the stage is to be seen from the adience point of view... like in theatre. Because that the stage is for, to be seen by the audience. What matters is what the audience sees.. at least thats how I keep explaining it to myself.never heard of house L/R but that also doesn't explain much to me who thinks too literally.

Quick question… where did you get the images that you are using to map out the screens. Were they supplied by the venue?
@ResolumeVJSoftware

resolume.com/footage In the video you can see the name of the clips. You can use these names to find the appropriate footage packs.

@@ResolumeVJSoftware I'm sorry I mean the image of the screens you are mapping to. The image that you use in the slice transform function that acts as your mask. Is it a picture you took from the same location that a projector would sit or is it a to-scale rendering of the venue? I'm basically wondering how you can get an accurate, to scale image of the venue to use as a mask
@ResolumeVJSoftware
@ResolumeVJSoftware 2 жыл бұрын
@@waffleiciousart hey Caleb, sorry for the misunderstanding. The images are just pictures, mock-ups if you will. Normally with shows of this scale the venue will tell you in advance what screens they have and what the dimensions/aspect ratio's of those screens are. Sometimes you can get a 3D model of the stage from the venue or the stage designers. In the end they are just a bunch of big LED-screens.

@JennyBevents
@JennyBevents 6 жыл бұрын
I believe that, for testing porpoise, you can use only the Virtual output device option, and if you have the native resolution of the equipment you will use (LED screens, projectors and so on) you can already set this up in the virtual output so it is easier to setup your show
