** Evidently, this solution may work on the A6! Someone try an A8!
How to resolve Audi non-functional interior trunk release switch. In a previous video, I got the convertible top working on my 2007 Audi A4. I didn't bother to note that the process left one headache, which was that the interior trunk release switch remained non functional once done. That is resolved here. And easily as it turns out. Works with A4/B7, '05-08, A6/C5/C6 models, '97-11.

I took the trim off from inside the trunk to release the trunk and then saw fob was not moving actuator. Thought I was going to have to buy a part. Then I saw this and it worked. Thank You!

This totally worked! I had the issue for a while now, and could only find suggestions to turn off "valet mode" in the glove box. My car doesn't have that option so I let it be, resigning to having to use my key to open the trunk. Thanks for reading the manual for us and posting the video 😂

I have had this happen to me before and it happened again to my wife today and she came home whining the trunk switch was broke, but indeed, the external lock was horizontal!! Thank you for the reminder to RTFM! If you think about it, the real reason this works this way, is that you can secure items in the trunk (lock the rear seats too!), and then you can disable the trunk switch if you gave someone a valet key, since the valet key physically does not fit in the trunk key slot.

Mine would only open with the key fob and not handle on the trunk. I checked and my key was vertical. I put the key in and turned it back and forth a few times. Hey presto it now works. Thanks for the video...

You Legend! Just replaced the battery, had to get something out of the boot, whilst I had no battery installed at all and used the key to get in the boot. Just been out and realised the boot wont open unless I use the button on the key fob. This has to be my problem. Thanks. First video I watched on the topic and you have solved it.

@@DashboardSymbols Well its died again and ive come across your video again. But its not my lock, its in the vertical position but the boot doesnt open with the fob or the interior button. Only with the key right now. Videos online suggest its the solinoid but my boot lid doesnt have the bits shown in every video. Mine seems to be entirely electrical with no metal bar going to a solinoid.

aah Yes, if in fact you can push the button and manually lift the lid because the latch is released, then yes, the lifts are likely the issue...

Thanks for the video.....however on my a4 b6 cabriolet 1.8t doesn't have a manual unlock for the boot like yours and the ket is in the vertical position.....so it won't ipen with keys or manual unlock either

Well, first, not sure if the older model works the same way. I'm also confused -- what are you calling a manual unlock?? Test the lock cylinder vertical and horizontal. Otherwise, there's probably an actual actuator failure.

On the other hand, the actuator which opens the trunk door might have to be replaced. This is the problem I have now on my 2014 Audi A4. When I try to open the trunk either from inside the car or pulling the handle at the back of the car (exterior), I can hear the actuator making a motor noise, but the lid fails to open.

Indeed, the sound of it trying to open is a big tell. Is the lid hung up on something or is there something out of adjustment?

Dear L Duranceau, was the problem solved replacing the actuator? My A6 C6 2005 Sedan has the same problem: when trying to open the trunk (from inside, outside and pressing the key button), I hear the motor noise, but the lid does not open. I need to press 3, 5, 10 times the button to open it successfully. Thanks

Hi Nicole. Well, the short answer is yes, here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/haCXdIWjoZqqpqs But there is a much longer one. I ALWAYS had manual control of the top, and I can't imagine a problem that would cause the top to not open manually. So, do a search on you tube for a manual reset of the Audi convertible top. What you find could be very helpful. However, if the top is truly unable to move at all, Ii don't have anything that will help. Good luck!

If I understand the translation correctly, the remote unlock is not working for the trunk. I believe following the procedure in the video MIGHT correct it. Otherwise, you'll need a repair shop.
