That’s not really a category that’s important as all hero’s can potentially have some improved gathering upgrades. All you have to do is identify the hero’s you want to use to gather and then you’ll know who they are. There is no sense in upgrading gathering only hero’s and playing a farm simulator. You’ll still have your offensive hero’s with a hero or few in your marches to assist gathering.

its hard to gather because you have to have preset marches, whilst rock auto selects gathering commanders

Well, technically, you don't need to invest in them, it's not an obligation nor a rule , I haven't spend any xp on them and i still farm twice as longer but still farm 🤷

I have a question that hopefully you could answer. If you destroy an opposing alliance's stronghold and then destroy their citadels, do they still respawn on their alliance land or will they respawn somewhere random in the region

I commented on your last video about gathering resources being very strong and easy but people mocked me, as a free to player i have to say i don't have any resource problem and I have 100m safe resources right now and it increases every day, you don't need to spent on anything except heroes in this game
