Believe it or not, famous politicians aren't always the best people in private life. In fact, the world has a long history of elevating men and women to power who don't have good intentions or healthy moral compasses. Many of these individuals do things that benefit the world, so the history books forgive their failings. Sometimes, their actions are simply forgotten about, brushed under the rug since their time in the spotlight. We're left to rediscover their misdeeds. Some of these politicians were racists, others criminal. Still others had people killed to promote their own political interests. Here are some respected politicians who were actually terrible people.

In 1969 I was a Marine hospitalized at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. I came down a hall and watched Johnson laying a Medal of Honor Medal on aqnother Marines chest. The Marine lost both legs and arms in Viet Nam and he did the right thing by hocking up and spiting it right in Johnsons face.

That’s an incredible story, Winslow. Kudos to that marine. The soldiers who were sent to Vietnam knew exactly who sent them there. It was Lyndon Johnson. He sent them there, he introduced the draft lottery and he pressured other countries like Australia to participate in his dirty war. It was LBJs war, lock stock and barrel.

LOL. Who said Lyndon Johnson was a ‘respected’ politician? When he asked Harold Wilson to contribute British troops to Vietnam, Wilson told him exactly where to go. Wilson couldn’t stand the sight of Lyndon Johnson. A good judge of character was Harold Wilson.

Johnson was frustrated by Wilson's refusal to actively support US in Vietnam. Apparently so much it was rumoured that he even asked Wilson to just send a token response even a pipe band. Wilson was no fool and was nursing a wafer thin majority in Parliament. He knew that any support,no matter how token, would alienate the left wingers in his cabinet and he needed their support to survive. Wilson could be accused of many things, but he was no fool and he refused point blank. History proved him right

actually, that's not entirely true. There were some politicians who were really good people, but only on a small geographical scale, and we're not good at their job. I think most politicians are morally neutral, because they have to be, and some are prepared to take risks and try to better themselves. I can't give examples because they're not big and powerful enough to be remembered. In small communities and cities, anyone can be voted and still remain respectable and open. Remember, politicians are people, so we can't always expect them to do everything right.

I think my son owes his education, his health, his career to Lyndon Johnson. No one else had tried to break the alliance between Southern segregationists and northern city Democrats until Johnson came along. He got civil rights legislation passed so quickly that he made it look easy. But was an enormous feat that he had planned and prepared for his entire political life. He was appreciated at least by thousands of black people, but withdrew tragically to his ranch and drank himself to death. I think he felt he should have solved the Vietnam situation, but he wasn't Henry Kissinger - he couldn't bring himself to just pull out and leave them to be overrun.

Enough with the untamed political bigotry norm already. If we truly hate politicians so much, why do we keep electing them? It's because we need them, no matter what we say. Two points: 1, you managed to point out how so many listed in this video were racist, but omitted LBJ's blatant racism. Then again, it's well known that LBJ was a racist. Although the same thing could be said about Strom Thurmond. When signing the welfare act of 1964, LBJ said "I'll have those n-words voting Democrat for the next 100 years" and sadly he's been right so far. 2, the Juanita Broaddrick incident has NOT been largely forgotten, because SHE won't let it be forgotten. There are also allegations of Bill Clinton being a pedophile and sleeping with underage girls on Jeffrey Epstein's private island!
