Sympathetic nervous system is fight and flight, it supplies you with what you need to survive. The sympathetic stimulates beta-2-adrenergic receptors in your heart (β1) and your bronchi (β2) to increase the heart rate and cause bronchodilation respectively.
The parasympathetic nervous system is the opposite: rest and digest. It stimulates muscarinic receptors such as the M3 receptors in your bronchi leading to increased secretion and bronchoconstriction.
