Great point on neb deliveries. Be very cautious of nebulizing AmphoB and the airway resistance. It can malfunction the vent as the flow sensor won't be able to read the exhaled flow.

Great video 👏 in the LTACH setting I work at we use these as their source of humidity. In 16 months I’ve seen 3 patients code from a clogged HME. A combination of copious secretions and therapists not inspecting the device lead to the dangerous situations.

Usually HMEs are to be changed every 72 hrs per manufacturers... is there not a policy on it in the LTACH?

@@inspiredx3866I have to change HME’s as much as every 5 hours in my building because of the water accumulation and in some cases the sputum accumulation. It’s especially bad here in Florida where the humidity is high. Room temp plays a part as well
