Tak has a historic significant. An Ayutthaya mandarin was appointed as Tak governor and when the Burmese troops invaded Ayutthaya Kingdom, he was recalled to defend Ayutthaya. When he deemed that Ayutthaya city was fated to fall, he and his troops fought their way out of Ayutthaya and arrived at a temple in Thonburi at dawn according to legend. This temple was then named Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). He further retreated to Chanthaburi along the east coast and rallied troops there. One year later, he and his troops travelled by boats along the sea coast, entered Chao Phraya river mouth, rowed up to Ayutthaya and then defeated occupying Burmese troops. He saw that Ayutthaya was totally burnt down and could not be revived. So he established a new Siam Kingdom capital in Thonburi, built a palace near Wat Arun. I could not remember his official king name, but most Thais called him King Taksin as a recognition of his origin as Tak governor. King Taksin's statute is in Thonburi about 7 km from the Memorial Bridge. There is King Taksin bridge near Icon Siam. Of course, there is also King Taksin statue in Chanthaburi.

Local touring tip….Try starting earlier… sun up at 0600… and it’s cool(er) for a couple of hours. Beware the highways… Also, too many international cyclists killed by thinking there is consideration for 2 wheels… there’s not. Stay B-road… more beautiful anyway

Australian here. Can confirm it's nuts here with the b-double trucks. That, plus the fact there's often no speed limit in the NT, which means you have them blasting by at 120-140km/hr. Lachy Morton had some horrific experiences during his recent lap around Australia. Also, there's often this ridiculous cultural divide between cyclists and other road users in Australia, which is just bonkers. Love your work, lads. Really enjoying this one. Hang in there James... you're only festively fat.

I have a question. I've been waiting since the India trip for you to say what the laptop (?) pannier is on your rear right. But you didn't (I think) do a kit breakdown for India and you didn't mention it in the kit video for this one. I'm sitting here listening to the storm winds howling outside and the rain lashing against the windows and feeling really envious of you. Then again I don't have any 20%+ gradients to ride tomorrow, so swings and roundabouts...

Hi Lawrence, Hi Francis I also have a question as a cyclist with a video problem. What program you are using for cutting/editing your videos? I usually use Final Cut Pro on my Macbook, but this is soooo heavy. And for Windows I haven't found a good one so far
