That's because the people of that time had discipline and used common sense. I'm German, my parental grandparents were both farmers. She once told me this story about the idea of divorce back then: "Sometimes, a couple decided they should end it. The guy then said "ok, but we need to get the harvest in first". The woman would agree and they'd do that. When they were done, she'd remind him and he'd say "ok, you're right, but it's winter now, we need to get the farm ready for winter and our animals." So they'd do just that. Then it would be spring and she'd remind him again. Again, he said ok, but said it's now time to saw the seeds for the new harvest. Eventually, life had moved on, the problems were in the past and they just stayed together. Now maybe some will argue that they just suppressed them. But first of all, that's what I realized 99,9% of women ALWAYS do (like how women always throw out all old pics of their exes or would NEVER talk to them, it's simply avoidance and not facing their feelings out of fear and convenience). And I think that this is how marriage works. You have crappy days, months, even years. But you also have good times. I've been out of the game for about 15 years and women haven't really changed for the most part. The last girl I saw (not dated) simply wanted me so she could have a baby. She stopped talking about it but would try to tease me into going into her bedroom. I suggested we go out but she wanted to go some place secluded and "spend time" together under the stars. I finally had to tell her that she had to turn it down a few notches because it made it really hard to trust her or take her seriously. We ended up going to a open public park to take a walk for a while. We actually had a nice conversation that wasn't about babies. I started to think she would be someone who I could spend more time getting to know. After we got in the car to take her home then it started all over again. She wanted me to hear her plan out. She didn't want marriage, didn't want money, I didn't have to be involved with her or the child. All she wanted was for me to impregnate her. I had to spend one night with her and be done. I told her that she was crazy and I wasn't buying into that BS. I dropped her off and went home. She called me for a week straight because I was the ideal man to make her a mother. I was on a trip with multiple girls. One had the 'patriarchy' theme. I did the 'rogue' act (creative problem solving, no fs given, everything above board, and platonic af). It was kinda fascinating to watch. The more solutions, the more unhinged she got. On the morning of the last day, she actually approached me with a list of accusations about 'dishonesty'; the other girls were like "Nope." That afternoon she had her (fully anticipated) ultra-public meltdown. I had never once debated 'girl power.' Never once 'defended the patriarchy.' "Ok, let's see how feminists handle each other with zero intervention." Yeah... they weren't friends after that. I'm just like: "What was the point?"
