This is a terrific critique, Brett. I’m looking forward to hashing these issues out with you!

Your work helped awaken my interest in philosophy when i was 14-15, and I am so glad to see I find you here again! I work in machine learning, and I struggle everyday with people who havent understood the right epistemological theory, namely the deutsch-popperian one.

The disdain you show when imitating a Bayesian around the 39-40 min mark is hilarious 😂 (and correct)

It's amazing how most people don't know something as profound as the Church-Turing-Deutsch principle and the concept of computational universality.

almost half way through, can't help say he's misunderstanding what Richard Dawkins is saying. He's not saying we can't, just that's not the environment we evolved in and therefore doesn't come natural to us.

at 1hr, your argument is exactly what Richard Dawkins is saying.

It’s a bit misleading to say ‘all explanations contain misconceptions and/or falsities’. I think it’s more accurate to say ‘even if an explanation contained nothing but the truth, we have no criteria by which to judge it is in fact the truth’.
@bretthall908028 күн бұрын
In what unambiguous language is such an explanation written?
@krathorlucca28 күн бұрын
Ambiguity is not important, as we are not trying to show that some explanation is true beyond any doubt. But some explanation could in principle correspond to some set of facts, even if we can have no certainty that it in fact corresponds to the truth.

Hey Brett, are you familiar with Boghossians affiliation with the MCC, Victor Orban, Chris Rufo (receiving hundreds of thousands of $ in donations). Given the recent DOJ case against Tenet media I think this is incredibly problematic. Boghossian also blocks and bans those like myself who point out the way that these kinds of issues as well as biases like audience capture have led him to have epistemic blindspots on various issues. I have many, more detailed videos on this, including one where Peter invented allegations that I was stalking him in order to justify banning me so as to not have to engage with my views. Additionally, I am a postmodernist and Woke!

Are you saying that he accused you of being a postmodernist and woke, where is that a self-identification?
@DigitalGnosis28 күн бұрын
@@younghatcreativenetwork2896 No. I self identify as those and said that as he is a critic of these views I wanted to speak to him and point out why I think he is mistaken. He blocked me and when challenged made up lies to preserve the idea he is open to discussion with competent people who disagree with his views. This is not true. Peter is bought by malign political actors, including the Pseudo-Dictator of Hungary Victor Orban.
