for overdamped system, roots should start with (-) sign. It's missing

There is a (-) sign in the expression of c(t) . So when we substitute the values of S1 and S2 the minus sign will appear in the original expression. Please correct me if i am wrong. Thank you

Dear mam, Can you help me to below question please? [Mass-spring-damper is a class of motion sensors sometimes called “seismic sensors”. Accelerometers belong to this class of sensors. Figure 1: Mechanical system of seismic sensors (Longoria, 2014) The spring and damper elements are in mechanical parallel and support the “seismic mass” within the case. The case is the base that is excited by the input base motion y(t). (Longoria, 2014) One of the Engineering research team is planning to explore when a force is applied to the case, the response of the second order mechanical system model by summing the forces acting on the seismic mass. (Total 60 Marks) Do the mathematical modelling for a Mechanical system of seismic sensor using lumped parameter modelling. (8 Marks) Find the Transfer Function for a Mechanical system of seismic sensor using the above mathematical expression. Clearly state all the assumptions you make. (4 Marks) Present the “output s function” of the Mechanical system of seismic sensor when there is a unit step input and present the time response of the Mechanical system of seismic sensor output as a mathematical expression in time domain. (6 Marks) While the mass of the machinery is 2 tons , specify values for damping ratio, spring constants(k_1=2*k_2) and dashpot constant of the Mechanical system of seismic sensor for; Under damped Over damped and Critically damped states. ]
