Not a dry eye here. We love you guys so much. You've welcomed us into your home, your life and for that we are so thankful. Gary (and your entire family) are a huge part of why we are are here and doing this crazy thing here. Every interaction we've had with you all has been such an encouragement to us. He had a way of making everyone feel like we've been friends for years. He took time to show us how to do stucco and how to hang a door. We are so thankful to call you friends and our hearts are with you. ❤

A builder, engineer, inventor, patriarch, internet friend, and comedian like no other. His eyes sparkled with joy. His jokes always landed (or didn't). We knew he cared because we felt it too. He brought sunshine to us at home where we only hoped for a chance to have a 2nd dad just like him. May memories of his love be close to your hearts as time passes. I pray peace fills your souls as you grieve Gary's transition back home. He will be missed dearly. ❤

I always loved Gary's puns, his silly Scandinavian accent, and especially his creativity with design and troubleshooting. Such a brilliant mind, which all of his children have inherited. Your Dad was an absolute shining example of what it means to be a father; dedicated, strong, kind, gentle, loving, giving, hard-working, determined, jolly, and involved. He was an absolute fountain of wisdom and pride and I am so thankful for his dedication to you all and his guidance to his kids, allowing you to blossom into the people you have become. I know he will be with you in everything you do and that he is so proud of everything you have and will continue to achieve. This is a devastating shock; thank you for updating us; take all the time you need.

When I first started watching your channel, I gobbled episodes up as fast as I could. It felt like nourishment to my soul. I was raised in a very broken family with lots of trauma and drama and mental illness coming from both parents. Anytime I come across a parent in the real world or online that is full of love and respect, loyalty devotion, interest and joy in their family...I am healed on some deep level internally. Your father brought healing to me in his way of loving you all. Thank you so much for sharing who you all are. I grieve and celebrate with you 🙏

I started watching this channel a few years before the pandemic. Your family helped me through those awful years of isolation when I lived hundreds of miles from family and in an apartment alone. The biggest impact this channel had on me was the father-children relationships Gary had. Going through some really horrible times with my dad made seeing Gary’s commitment to compassionate and loving fatherhood so healing. It just so happens that today I had a meaningful conversation with my dad for the first time in almost 2 years. We were able to talk about the event that caused our fallout and I was able to invite him to my wedding in about a month. I hurt for you and appreciate the glimpses you gave people like me into your lives. Gary lives on in all of our hearts, more than you know. 💚

What a shock! You don't know all of us, but we who have followed your channel for years feel like we know you. Gary's cheerful and creative outlook was such an inspiration. I, too, am thankful that you will have all these great videos to look back on. My husband passed away 8 years ago. We would have been married for 50 years this year. I miss him every day, but the knowledge that he is with His Lord and Saviour gives great comfort. More and more I realize that death isn't the end--it's just the beginning of what REAL life is for the Christian. Your faith in Christ will sustain you. His grace will overwhelm you at times, and it will always be enough to get you through. Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute. My heart hurts for your pain. Mylittlehomestead family, we have followed you all regularly for a couple of years now and Gary's passing has shocked and saddened us all. Our deepest condolences to your entire family and followers who have all come to LOVE you all. Gary is a testament to the love and friendship he shared with us all. A few years back I lost a dear lifelong friend of mine who died in his front yard on a HOT July 16th afternoon, mowing the grass, he was 57 yrs old... Gary will be missed for ever, but having all the previous videos of you all will help ease the pain. Love, Love, Love you all.

Gary reminded me so much of my Dad. There aren't enough men like them. Their legacy is greatly Faceted. One thing is certain, they led the way for many men and inspired them to be the kind, caring husbands and daddys we so desperately need. I will pray everyday for you. Thanks be, Oregon Kay ❤

I am very sorry for your loss. Gary is also a loss for the KZbin community too. Personally I feel like I know him even though we never met in person. I have definitely learnt from him in the videos and found his cancer journey, going the natural route, inspirational. May he rest in peace...

Finding this channel has always lifted my spirits from losing my own father a couple years ago and now after recent disaster the shock I had to face It has caused me to suddenly remember memories of my childhood from outside the family of horrific sexual abuse that was done to me.I told no one my mental health hasn't been good .Some vlogs I've watched over and over and it always brings me peace and as I'm a recent convert I've been watching back episodes with a desire to get to know your amazing family more. My church is supporting me and I'm learning to give my troubles to the Lord one day at a time. My deepest sympathies to you all,may you all also find strength in the Lord. Peace be with you.

I've watched all of you kids grow up in these videos. I feel like all of you were blessed to have such a great dad. And to Shelley, a great husband. I'm so so sorry for your loss. God: "Well, Gary, I was thinking of changing a few things around here.." Gary: " I think I can help you with that, can you use a drill?".

I did not grow up with a dad and it seems I also adopted your dad in my weekly view of your life as my father figure also. I cried throughout this video. I remember a positive, constant and kind persons. One who encouraged and used humour to make the impossible, achievable. It is the essence that I will always remember. Thank God you have these memories, they will keep you during the hard times. God bless you all.

I’m in shock. As a viewer that’s only been able to check in maybe a dozen times per year I’ve always picked up on the fact that Dad was the team leader yet team player at the same time. It has been so easy to pick up on what a truly good man he was. God bless his soul and entire extended family.
