No amount of flowery words can make up for the fact that the house is too dark. Surely, designing for daylight has to be one of the primary considerarions in architecture.

Even outdoors its gloomy and overcast. It would have been interesting to see the inside with the light coming in. I think it might have been oppressive and almost impossible to shoot if the sun had been shining in directly
@millaJ4 күн бұрын
I think some of this has to do with how the video is shot. A lot of the indoor shots are exposed to keep the sky outside properly exposed. It’s probably a bit brighter in person. You can tell based on how dark his face is in a lot of the shots.

Black is very much “in” right now in styling. Just wait 5-10 years and it will look out of place. The old mansions around it have stood the test of time and “fancy” styles that have come and gone. Black won’t survive as well. Black actually fades and oxidizes over time. Based on the wealth of the owner, I doubt it will matter much to him.

@D_SQ I totally agrree. In addition, simply too much use of concrete. Not a fan of this type of trendy architecture.

If this video was shot now in Winter then the lighting is different anyway to when it is summer. I think i would want to see it in real life to see what it is really like.

Only darkness, no enough light. Those deep shadows 😊. That can’t be breathtaking for the viewer. But I believe being on set it’s amazing.

I think it's more of a Bond house in my opinion, elegant, somewhat dark but still with some light color and lots of green. I would imagine a Batman home to be completely underground, mostly with dark colors and with little green nature 😅 Beautufil house as it is 😍
An amazing house, especially the wine cellar is spectacular 😍 but also the pool area and of course the fantastic view from the house to the mountains and Lake Lugano. I am already looking forward to the next episode 😊

Impressive, also the fact that they bought an expensive luxury mansion, demolished it, and built this. At the very least 10M CHF total cost. Thanks for the tour. Unfortunately technically difficult to film such a house with dark colors inside, with very bright diffuse light outside.

This house stands in Morcote. Villas in that village are being sold in the market for 6-20 mio. $. Assuming there must have been already an (old) house on that property before, this house must have cost in the range of 10-25m. Wow.

Cool project in many aspects. But sometimes monotonous and there is a lot of not cool objects (too much in the living room) with ugly plants. 8/10 nice finish and as man I think that’s a cool bat cave. Another comment. Small bedrooms and kitchen.
@scottmackey41824 күн бұрын
As Frank Lloyd Wright said about bedrooms: They are only to be slept in. Don’t waste space on them. He also made note of kitchens: They are work rooms defined for a singular purpose. Very different from today where the kitchen becomes part of the living experience. Depending on the owner’s preference, the kitchen could just be for servants or catering staff to use. If they aren’t gourmet cooks themselves, they may not want it part of their living experience. Just for making some coffee in the morning. The large living room is genius. So many options for arranging set ups. Look at the size of the dining room table. 16-20 people around it! Try fitting all those people into a single seating arrangement in the living room. They need different groupings.

Nice bachelor pad, not sure it's quite right for a family. Overall it seems too dark, unless this is due to not using camera lighting.

Love the brutalist concrete with glass and the dark look but the living room is disappointing. 3 different sofa sets in one large room with no separation? Looks like a hotel lobby. Views are nice though. And the "gym" is a joke.

@RestlessLiving5 күн бұрын
Batman lives there, that’s why. 😂 No, I’m joking. I guess you refer to the shots in the living room? It is a low-light setting and with the bright sun outside, you cannot perfectly expose the camera for the view and the interior at the same time. So you will either have blown out white windows (not being able to see the view) or make the interior appear a little darker to be able to see both at the same time. Hope it helped. 👍🏼

Eugene, we have to respect that people are living there. Ideally, this would be a multiple day shoot, but that’s not always possible for practical reasons. We try to get the most out of the time we have available.

This is another expensive home for the rich. The building is bleak and bare like the Modern Architecture demands. Who can afford a wine sellar? None of the stairs have railings. The mansion merges the living room and the bathroom which is fashionable but will age badly. Who wants to shower in front of everyone? Who wants to relieve himself with company nearby. Why not build for those of limited means? That is really novel.
@RestlessLiving5 күн бұрын
All technological advancement begins with someone trying to push the boundaries of what is possible. When new discoveries are made, past inventions are replaced by better and often much cheaper options. If no one was trying to design and build something extraordinary, the materials conventional homes are built with today would likely not even have been found. Bold architecture is needed; it will also have a positive affect towards affordable housing.
@oliverl21725 күн бұрын
The bathroom is in the private bedroom, not in the living room.
@scottmackey41824 күн бұрын
Dicky, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but you are denying one critical factor here: This is what the owner wanted otherwise it would not have been built!! You have no appreciation for what this wealthy individual desired for his home. This is a complete one-off design. Not an ordinary or budget-market home for the masses.

I'm not going to spend all that money to have a place that's like an airport departure lounge. Why do they have to put in so much furniture? Not all of us need people around all the time. If I bought this, it'd be to be most alone except maybe with the kids. That's all. Maybe an occasional person who I feel is worth bringing there. The idea is to escape and be away from human beings. Don't you people get it? Not all of us have club-going tendency. I just want to watch Jumper in quiet and peace without the stuidity of some person messing up the vibes for me.
