Two months ago, we moved our family from Virginia to Alaska. We live off the grid & mainly heat our cabin with wood. We do have a small wall propane heater that we use to keep the cabin at a steady temp & to keep it from freezing when we're away for extended periods of time. It's a lot of work, but there's nothing like wood heat. The warmth, the smell...the ambience & coziness that it provides. I wouldn't want it any other way. This is the life we've dreamed of & now we're living it. Thanks for joining us for another video!

We upload a new video to our channel once a week. Sometimes we can find the time to squeeze in an extra one here & there just for YOU! Hope you enjoy this video...just capturing things that we do on the regular around the new homestead. Restocking our firewood supply is a constant, but we LOVE wood heat & wouldn't want it any other way. Besides, who needs a gym membership when you got this in your backyard?!🤣Cheers friends!

I noticed awhile ago how intent Kellen is always watching Joe. He has stored away these things he's seen and has learned more than even he knows at this point. Most importantly, it's the intangible things he is learning. Things you can't explain but simply have to observe. Work ethic, calmness, demeanor. Even how Joe explains things are learned events subconsciously stored away for the future.

So beautiful. So enticing. I am living vicariously on your travels and life in Alaska. My husband and I are seniors, and I am active in my life here in Los Angeles. But because of health issues, the dream of Alaska (and I have had many dreams of life there) has to be vicarious thanks to you, Joe, Lexi, and Parker. And of course the puppies! Thank you for all of this. it does make a difference. A big difference every morning before I'm off on errands or tending to my gardens (two for my grandchildren so they know where their food comes from) and other things. Again, YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE and not just entertainment. It is truly vicarious living and oh so soothing.

I understand the need for wood, I have a fireplace I use to heat my home. Parker helping, he is strong. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. Thanks Tina for the extra video.. You guys Rock.. 🙏❤️

Love the drone footages and Parker helping out with chores while mastering the Polaris. He will become a great citizen in society with all these good qualities you and Joe are instilling in him at an early age. I was wondering how snowshoe works and thanks for that demo. Oh my gosh! I felt like taking a nap after watching all that work! I can't tell you how much wood my brother and I hauled and stacked every summer. After my dad got home from work, he would cut up downed trees for a couple hours. The next day, my brother and I had to haul it out through the brush, neatly stack it in the pickup truck and unload it behind the house. After my dad split it, we had to stack it all up as high as we could reach! We probably had 6 to 8 cords of wood stacked by the end of summer. Thankfully, we didn't have to do all that in the cold and snow. Hence feeling like a nap after watching you all work so hard! Parker is a great kid! He already has a good work ethic! Won't be long before he's wielding the chainsaw 😳

I really appreciate the people who take the out of their day to post their life online it’s not only entertaining it helps viewers to learn new skills. I for one do not want to work as hard as you and your husband however I am entertained watching you guys work hard and wish I had the energy you and your husband have. Just wanted to say KZbin has taken the place for Hollywood movies for me as I will not watch any of that anymore. My only regret for the KZbin world is you don’t make as much as movie stars because in my eyes this is more entertaining

Been there with the wood... Now I have a kubota tractor and hold the trees up to cut them... tip... Cheep nylon rope! Run it out to your side by side and pull the logs out to the yard... I've skidded logs with a polaris 700, with a 300 king quad... I've also done it just like you are... love cutting wood.... After years up here I have 3 good saws, 391 stihl, 550 xp husqvarna, and a 455 husqvarna... and some older ones... I've learned to have backup saws,,,, always better to just keep working instead of having to stop... When you can stop at pawn shops... Great deals up here... Great video.....

The whole family working together to live your DREAM! Great JOB! Parker, very impressive and safe move to look behind the Polaris before taking off! Learning how to be a productive part of your family is so important and you will continue to learn! How much wood do you need for one day to heat your house? May be Parker could keep count (tally marks) the pieces of wood that are needed for one day's worth of keeping the house warm? It would be interesting to know, if you have enough wood for several days or a week. Thank you!

I am from Sweden but rright now I am actually in the US since almost 4 weeks but I am in the opposite end, I am in northern Florida. I come most every Christmas/ New Year for about 3 weeks with my daughter. We have family there, my wife was american but sadly passed away many years ago. But I really want to come to Alaska and northern parts of Canada for a month or even two if possible. You (and others) present it so tempting...

Beautiful scenery! Even though it's so cold and I don't like the cold, I think I would take it over all this rain and flooding we have in Commifornia. Then again Commifornia turned it's back on God so what does the state expect. I bet you all slept good that night after working and walking in that snow.

I thought Joe was gonna beat Tina to that tree from another direction. Everyone that uses a chainsaw starts it that way cept the really big ones that have a lot of pull back from compression then you step on em. ❤️
