@olepigeon2 жыл бұрын
Commercial electronics are typically washed with deionized water as the last cleaning step, then put through a drying oven. You can clean electronics at home with regular water, but the trick is to make sure there isn't any residue and/or mineral deposits left over. First step is to remove any socketed ICs. Next clean with tap water + regular dish soap. Give a good scrub. Then rinse with deionized water or isopropyl alcohol. Leave to dry for about a day. Helps to place it next to a fan. Put chips back in.

I've cleaned this Mac as well. Even with the full dusty machine, after everything is disassembled, the good old soft paint brush does the trick. Sure, it takes time and effort, but that'a how it's done. Air compressor doesn't really work, because it leaves the thin dust layer. As for washing the components, savage! Also, never put the case on the floor, because it gathers the dust so fast and too much that in the end everything inside looks like a jungle. Put it on the table instead and clean it every 6-12 months. That way you don't need a deep cleaning like this.

Crazy to use normal water instead of destilled water when the parts are intended to be still used.

I love seeing people cringing in the comments over electronics being cleaned with water. Guess what? Yes you can do it if no current is running through it and if you dry everything quickly.

You should transform it in a good Linux webserver. It's an amazing and so powerful machine.
