Jay please make restoration blogs longer. It's the best part of old cars is restoring them and learning how they did it bach then.

I did not know how much I loved Lotus until this blog! The level of craftsmanship that is going into the car is going to make it B E A utiful, but the thing that polarizes my ion is the size of the thing. It is such a cliche, but the fun really is from 40-120mph. and having a motor on four wheel dragging you through the air looking and sounding as good as a Lotus, as Low, as open, as close to the ground man am I hooked on this motor. I have got to walk it off...

Referring to the brake pipes. In the '60's these cars were popular as a 'Build at home kit.' This avoided the VAT (tax added to products that make your life sweeter) and was well within the means of many impassioned motorists, and so the quality can vary enormously from car to car. Likewise, it is possible that this car has had some rebuild work over the years. I don't know the cars history, but I'm hoping that will come in future videos... Oh, and Thank you Mr Leno, for sharing your toys.

Yeah, can't wait till its finished. First found out about this car when i played Forza Motorsports and while i never used it to race i always loved playing with it, specially after i put an upgraded Exige engine in it. I just love over-sized go-karts

Thanks, Jay and Jim! How fantastic it is to watch you put this car together, Jim. I'll be by to pick up the car after you're done! Thanks! ;) Wait, what? It's not for me?

So this is 'restomodding' at its best. I used to drive a friends Elan here in England and it was a great drive but fit and finish were never Lotus traits. An inspirational KZbin channel.

Welding wire to mock brake lines up? ... thats genius. I'm stealing that one.
@Dogleg19576 жыл бұрын
Everybody's complaining about the welds but I guarantee you J and Jim did extensively research the type of welds that were used in the construction of these Cars. Back then there was no robotic machine welders. So after 1500 man hours of research and undisclosed price. jay bought the original welders used on those cars in 60s. Hence the birdshiet welds .... but period correct birdshiet!!!

Not sure I would have stayed with that old tin, Spyder chassis are quite reasonably priced and much happier to absorb the punishment that engine and those rose joints are going to feed it.
