God gives the promises that, through their obedience to His ‘instructions for life’, their crops will be successful and abundant, they will fruitfully multiply as a nation and most importantly, that He will dwell with them. However, following these promises of blessing is the warning that exile, persecution and tribulation await them if they break the covenant that God had made with them. The list of curses is formidable, but concludes with the promise of redemption for anyone who would, after falling into corruption, turn back to God, confess their sins and repent of their wickedness.
