This was the first sheath knife I bought when I joined the British Army in 1974, I still own it to this day. .nothing special about the sheath it 😂was all about the knife when I saw it in the store in Scotland. Bought many others over the decades but this one was special to me.💂‍♂️🪖⛑️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇨🇦

With all the fancy equipment I would also manufacture a sheath like the one the knife came with from the factory. 10623a0941.clvaw-cdnwnd.com/2622cbc427eb9eba0cb238c3b362f64b/200389289-5748457486/whfirst_02.jpg

Wow! I've had a Puma White Hunter since I was a kid, some 55 years ago! Your video has given me some good ideas on how to upgrade the sheath. The sheath is the original and is getting very brittle and quite dirty. I have used the knife in the field for a long time and the bone handle has a few chunks out of it. Thanks for the video!

I bought a white hunter when I was about 13. I am 69 now. It has the walnut handle. It had a chip in the handle so the store manager gave me a 30% discount. I couldn't afford the original price of $50. But I saved up to get it for $35. It didn't have a sheath. I made a very basic one out of some cheap leather. Just a few years ago, I had a friend make me a better one. Coolest knife ever. I do wish mine had the antler handle.

Always a pleasure. Do you think the Resolene when airbrushing? What do you use to clean the airbrush after use? I only use mine for dye work and clean with alcohol. Would like to try some of the top coats with it. Why did you use it this time instead of a wipe on method?
@edgell3
@edgell3 Жыл бұрын
I also use Resolene through an airbrush. In fact I have a dedicated airbrush and bottle for the process. Resolene is a water based product. Dilute the Resolene 50/50 with water and adjust the airbrush pressure to produce a fine even mist. Apply two or more coats as desired, allow to dry between coats. Five to ten minutes should do. Clean with an 80/20 ratio of denatured alcohol with water. You may want to breakdown the airbrush and give it through cleaning as you feel necessary. Hope this helps.😎

@@RoadAgentLeather I figured it did a bit, but didn't know how deep it goes. I've done some experimenting with a torch and seeing if I could get an edge to slick better, and it's a very fine line. But I also have used the same technique to create a harder surface on the edge of an axe pouch (logging style). I don't think it really made a better product, but it's still holding up.

Do you dilute the dye that you have in that big jug, or is it pure? I have tried diluting mine (fiebings pro) with alcohol but i find it soaks into the leather too easily and is harder to control.

Question: at the 2:09 mark, you are using a u-shaped frame to hold Emory cloth, and shoe-shine style polish out the bolster. Do you know what the tool is called, or possible where to get one? Sick project. I've got a few questions: - In some of your other projects, you use an aussie conditioner while here you use resolene. What determines when you seal it and when you only condition it? - How is your experience with the wuta tools? they are pretty cheap on the website, but I'm a little skeptical about the quality - what are the pads you use for dying?
