My Amazon store is up! I get a lot of specific questions about the tools and materials I use in my videos. So I've opened an Amazon store! It's a curated list of the stuff I use in my videos that are available for purchase on Amazon. The vast majority are items that I personally use and are sitting in my shop right now. If I couldn't find the exact same thing currently available on Amazon (a lot of things I purchased locally or elsewhere), I researched and found an equivalent. Please note that as an Amazon associate I earn from qualifying purchases ... in other words, I get a (VERY) small commission on these. It's a cool way to support me and my channel! The link is in the video description.

i ended up with a Cattaraugus 225Q around 1966. My uncle got it while in the Army and abandoned it at my grandfather's house. I've still got one. It is a great general purpose knife. Nice restoration job on the blade and handle. I really enjoyed this. Thanks.

This is not a "restoration". This is not "making a leather sheath". I do both, I know. THIS, is saving the heritage of a knife and making it a working blade someone could be VERY proud of. Amazing work brother.

Beautiful work as usual. Thank you for bringing back to life such a history knife. My experience is with the K-bar but the Gattaraudus is a true classic. I can tell that you have a passion for knives and I love to watch your work. I think the part I liked the most was leaving the handle natural with on dyes. A perfect match to the sheath. As someone else mention, I didn’t know I needed a mini table saw. Now I to will have to go shopping 🤣👍. Keep em coming 👍👍👍👍👍👍😎

Looks like a KA-BAR that we carry in the Marines. Awesome!
@RoadAgentLeatherАй бұрын
I always associate the KA-BAR with WWII. But the U.S. did issue other knife brands apparently :)
@Grynslvr2Ай бұрын
The 225Q is the same general length, however it isn't a clip point "Bowie" like the KA-BAR. These knives have a lot of mystery around them. Some say they were issued by the Army and Navy.. Some say they were only available for private purchase at the PX. Some say it was both. I KNOW that my uncle brought one back from his time in the Army in the late 1950's. I have no idea of how he ended up with it. It is a great knife for cutting, slashing, and chopping, but not much for stabbing, like the KA-BAR is.

My Dad was a machine-gunner with the 9th Infantry Division at St Lo in 1944 and brought one of these home. It was dull as hell by then, so he let me use it in the woods near our house. I have no idea what became of that knife. I haven’t seen it since the 1980s, and Dad passed in 1996. All the guys in those days (1950s) used their fathers' old military issue-hats, combat boots, puttees, backpacks… His knife sheath was simply stamped, “US ARMY.”

Nice work on a deserving historic knife! Get an assortment of Gesswein Die Grinder’s stones. About the size of a carpenter pencil. Use with WD40. Use like you would sandpaper going from coarse to fine. Try using the end as opposed to the sides. The “tip” will whet down to the angle of use. Not costly, last far longer than sandpaper, and give much faster results. They will change your life. I think I’ll get me an old GI knife! Thanks!
