Hello Andy. great video. i have restored many of the OLA (Original Large Advent) for myself and friends (over the years) as well as many pairs of the NLA (New Large Advent) version. Replacing the caps with new polypropylene caps in the crossovers really helps too. The OLA version had 2 crossover configurations over that version production lifespan. If you want any schematics for the crossovers emailed to you let me know.

Henry Kloss was a genius, he engineered it played with the cross over , this speaker brought probably more people into this hobby than anything elese. Itts perfect why mess wit it.

Advent enclosures are excellent I used to Radio Shack replacement woofers they sounded awesome in the advent enclosures.

In case anyone is interested SimplySpeakers does sell the replacement foam kits for Advent speakers, among other parts for vintage speakers.

I have the NLA's. The caps were supposedly replaced but I didn't bother confirming. They are "warm", which I like but the bass can be rather tubby.

The 10" Dayton classic driver is a good replacement for Advents like this. (My father did the same to his Afvents from the early 80s.) They sound great

How do you like your Infinity RS1s? I recently acquired a pair though I'm waiting on some replacement dust caps.

They are great! When placed on a surface they can use (resonance), they open up and hit well above their size. I put mine on light wood shelves and they perform wonderfully!

You sir are not thinking this through… what is the best way to get experience? (A: Repairing as much as you have access to.) How do you get more to repair? (A: Sell the last item for break even or profit.) BINGO! Now… go start a channel and put up with folks not thinking before making comments!

In a post for another video, a former employee of Advent said that the grills should be installed for the speakers to operate properly. Something about the way grill frame effects the dispersion.
