I have a barn on some Rural New Jersey property i just bought a few months back. I am currently lifting it myself. Needs to be elevated at least a foot around. Some rotten posts are needing two feet lift. I have 12 bottle jacks around the barn, jacking it 1/4 inch per day. So exciting!

Incredible undertaking, but what an amazing transformation. I have an old barn on my property in the Historic District in Auburn that needs restoration. Hopefully I can bring this back as well.

Happy holidays to you and your family. Thank you for saving a historical barn on your property. I just was wandering if you insulated the floor and walls of the barn to make sure the cold stays out. what will you use the old barn for now that it has been restored?

May I ask you how you know about the German heritage of your barn. I’m getting ready to restore a barn from around 1870 and have no idea the heritage?

Massive undertaking. So beautiful. Had to cost 300k. Are there battens on the old, and new, siding? Sorry... my eyes are horrible :(

I'd love to know how much money was involved in that work. I've got an old barn of about the same size and age as that one, that has the new footers and bracing, but the siding and roof needs work, and I'd love to do something about repointing the stone walls in the lower level. It's overwhelming! I understand why they get torn down and replaced with steel pole buildings. Who can afford to refurbish them?

It would be very nice if the filmmakers of these types of videos would respond to questions that occur in the comments.

No Hex Sign? if German at least design your own and affix it to the barn, common to this region. If you want to go one step further chalk the doors with a blessing, usually a German Catholic custom for homes, but if you have animals in this barn this is their home (it wouldn't hurt). It is usually a Germanic Catholic tradition and Maryland was a settled as a English Catholic refuge. 20 * C + M + B + 23 for Christus mansionem benedicat and the year Usually done on New Years Day.
