I absolutely love this! Too bad this can’t happen all over the country! It’s horrible that what is common is track being ripped up and either eliminated without a trace or turned into a trail which is essentially the same thing.

If I remember correctly, the original plan had the commuter rail terminating at the pier. There were ADA issues with a station built on the street in front of the pier not being able to allow the required assessibilty. So they gave up on the idea.

We’ll see how they tackle this one. Perhaps they’ll build something relative in size to the Bourne platform here.

The that spur should have been where the train station was built, instead of almost a mile away. This is the same silliness that arguably ruined SMART in Larkspur, CA - the station is too far from the connection with a ferry.

The state pier isn’t suitable for a real park and ride station as people need a place to park (there’s no room for that anywhere in the vicinity) but is perfect for a small platform for a connection to the ferry.
