In this video I make a restoration of a James Bond 007 vintage watch which is a Tissot "pr516" automatic watch from around 1970, cal 784-2. The watch was dead when I bought it.
I found this watch in an online auction and the guy who owned it lived quite near me. I just pulled the trigger with a quite high bid (in my opinion) and luckily I won the watch.
-During the disassembly I think the gear train was seized up because of old oil and dirt inside, that's why the watch couldn't run and was dead from the beginning. Everything else was in good condition.
-The whole watch was disassembled and cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner with Elma red solution. The pallet fork and balance is cleaned manually in naphtha. The mainspring was cleaned in the ultrasonic also, not included in the video. The mainspring was kept as it looked very fresh.
-The casing was restored, polishing and brushing of surfaces. Also the back lid of the watch was restored. The acrylic glass of the watch was polished.
-The stem of the watch was quite rusty so this was changed to a new stem.
-The rotating bezel was changed to a vintage original one from 1970.
After the restoration the watch runs around +/- 5 seconds per day. In vertical positions it shows around +/- 10 seconds per day. The amplitude shows around 300 degrees!
This was Roger Moores personal watch which he had during the making of the James Bond movie Live and Let Die 1973. So this watch can be seen sometimes during the movie because he wore it backstage so I guess sometimes he didn’t change his watch to an Omega or a Rolex for an example.

When I was a little kid I had one of Roger Moore's James Bond movies on a VHS, A View To A Kill. I really liked that film and it also includes Christopher Walken, who is a fantastic actor. So when I heard that Roger Moore uses this Tissot PR-516 automatic watch in a couple of scenes in the movie Live and Let Die I had to get it! In the end of the project everything turned out very good, the watch runs well. The watch was probably dead because there was some dirt that had seized the gear train. Probably its been dead for a long time because I couldn't find much wear on the parts. Hope you enjoy my work, thank you for taking your time watching my movie!

I bought a watch from 1968 with an ETA 2551…it is very very small. I have disassembled it, cleaned it and reassembled it, it has been my most complicated movement, especially due to its size, and it has come back to life with surprising precision. I just hope one day to do what you do... thank you very much for your videos, they are spectacular and I learn a lot. Greetings from Spain.

Not sure how long Omega has done it, but I know for many James Bond movies, Omega releases a James Bond watch. There is a limited number, each in a special presentation box. I have the Omega released after the James Bone movie Spectre. The watch was a gift from my wife at my retirement. As we were making the purchase, a gentleman came in with the same watch as well as the Omega from the previous movie. He was interested in their value as he had purchased both overseas. Naturally, the Spectre model was worth around $6k but the older model according to the sales person had gone up quite a bit and would continue as each new Omega was released. It came down to number of watches available. Since owning the watch; I also own a Omega Orange face dive watch, I’ve used the occasion when my wife drags me to a jewelry store to ask about any of the James Bond edition Omega watches. I’ve yet to go into a store and have them tell me they had one or even sold one. They all say the numbers are limited and only certain stores get them.

Back when it was a treat to watch a James Bond movie. @@Watcheyes I looked it up and indeed he wore a digital Seiko in 1979 Moonraker. In the context of the movie it had some explosive capabilities. Searching further I see that he also wore the digital Seiko in an earlier Jame Bond movie: The Spy Who Loved me.
