Great job from someone who's been doing audio for 40 plus years. You took junk that I wouldn't even mess with and brought it back to life. Good on you. One comment speaks of voice coil rub and misalignment but he doesn't realize that the mike on your camera is overwhelmed. Forget the nay sayers and rock on!

The point is it very well _could_ have rubbed. Why even take any chances when going through so much work, and not just shim the voice coil properly? It's called constructive criticism. I know these restorations are done primarily for show and not performance/reliability, but nonetheless it might give viewers the wrong impression.

Hi. At least some one is taking stuff out the landfill.make sure you mix the epoxy next time because wen the woofer starts to really hit hard the vent pole Will move and displace itself causing the coil to get stuck hence u will short the amp or damage the coil.are you selling these items or collecting for yourself as a matter of interest.Keep it up

To put in all that work and to leave out or miss the most important step which is shiming or spacing the voice coil so that its its perfectly centered around the motor post unfortunately with out this step the chances of it being aligned with no rub is so very slim almost impossible also looked like we guessed the spider placement also very super important although I must give him an A for effort but very unfortunate that it wont last long after all that hard work also nice to see people not get scared about trying something new

That glue is a 2part epoxy. You cant just apply one on top of the other and expect it to bond properly.

Back up there mate. I think you owe him an apology because if you look again you can see he has mixed the two loops of epoxy together just before he drops the frame down. He does the same with the voice coil and further along he has it mixed in a cup so he knows what he is doing and how to use it. Not the way I would do it but whatever works.

You need to measure the top plate and cut it in half for the placement of the coil in the gap /motor this helps improve bass and alround response of the woofee

The voice coil on that sub needed to be shimmed between pole and i.d. of coil. That got under my skin real bad. Lol

You can center it with a 30ish hz sine wave. I usually do that at a low volume immediately after putting the final glue down and the cone just kina centers itself. Idk if this guy did that but just wanted to say shimming isnt always necessary

I would have liked to have seen that magnet recharged or whatever you call it! Re-align it! Also add a cross over to block out unwanted frequencies! But what gets me is the factory paper cone and speaker material, huh, what? There's such better stuff out nowadays! I would have tried to update it but that's just me!

Eric, it's a professional sound reinforcement driver. Designed for high output and efficiency, not for super low bass. The cone and surround are typical for that application, which is very different from home cinema or mobile applications.

Paper is still the best for sensitivity and sound quality. Poly or fiberglass might be better for deep lows, but this speaker isn't made for that.

Extraordinary and sublime ... the satisfaction of doing it yourself. The woofer was practically NEW. I would like to know if you can tell me what type of putty you used for the wood of the cabinet, epoxy? ... or some special one for wood? It also caught my attention, well! that takes the sound without saturating the microphone of the camera. The bass were real and they are heard perfectly. In addition ... I was also struck that no other sound was heard other than the bass .... neither medium nor part of treble etc. given that I saw that it had no coil. I do not know how you did it. I don't know what to say for you to understand, the speaker I'm recovering is not an electric subwoofer, it is a developed power subwoofer without any circuits or coils, as long as you have enough equipment and know how to connect it. That speaker will only produce subwoofers
