yeah, as mentioned Gavin. The issue for trying to get parts is the eBay prices and charges. I have been doing this for ages now and i pick kits that can still be bought complete and in various states of repair. For example i did the same with a RC10GT. I had to in the end buy 3 other kits to get all the parts i needed to make an original stock RC10GT. When i sold that i broke even with what i had spent, less "time" of course. I do however have a slightly hopped up RC10GT for myself which was the plan and for very little outlay. In the end i think it owes me £75, so i could sell that one and make a bit of profit. My point being, i do this to basically fund my hobby rather than trying to make a profit

very beautiful video. the belt looks really strange. I didn't even know that this chassis still had a mechanical speed controller. 👍🏻

I fixed the belt issue. I had fitted the wrong size belt gears. Once I replaced them the belt tension was back to normal. The really early cars had the MSc electronics but not for long.

Check step 14, to be sure that you are using part F5 (16 teeth) for the belt. Maybe the part F2 (15 teeth) for the TA-03R is mounted here, and that can cause the loose belt also. Both parts come with the, kit, so maybe the previous owner took the wrong part. Fingers crossed that there will be a profit in here, to keep more videos coming from you.

I think Robert Ward has a good point there. Anyhow flipping cars is hard work to make good money out of , it’s best to just do them for fun if your not bothered about not making money from it. It can work but you needs to be lucky finding the right car and at a very good price to stand a chance. Besides that the cars looking excellent.

Nice topic, for one fix n flip, also I love ta03s. Got several of those, mainly tuned versions with frp and carbon chassis.... You made a nice one, but to be worth the money you'd have to wait another few years maybe... Or not, depending on re-releases... I think right now this piece of kit would be sold for 120-180 gbp only unfortunately... Big downside worthwise is the not Tamiya body, although nice...I've also though about fix n flip, but more in the buy for 40-80 range, cleaning and maintaining, but not exchanging parts in big style, then selling for 60-100. But in the end I always kept them or made something better out of it... haha... The worst one will be for the kid to crash around...

Hi Gavin, I just watched your TA03F fix up & flip video, Did you know that this is one of the only chassis you can run 2 motors….. yes, I have the TA03F Mitsi Evo 5 version, grey chassis also. I purchased the parts required for the rear wheel drive version, but A quick “oh wow “ is unbolt the front diff/ motor section turn it around and screw it on the rear, sounds like with the parts you have coming you will be almost there with what’s needed. I did this change to mine about 15 years ago, soldered extra wires onto the manual speed control, these days twin motor esc’s are available. Flick me a reply and I can fill ya in a bit more. I could get some pics of mine if needed. Would love to hear from you. Talk soon. Rowan -New Zealand
@RCKickschannel3 жыл бұрын
Yes I know you can mix and match to make it possible to run a front and rear motor combo. I’m thinking about giving it a go on the show as I think loads of people would be interested in that one.
@Haybayz3 жыл бұрын
@@RCKickschannel it would be a good opportunity with the fix and flip, more likely to make a profit….I used to run 2 sport tuned back in the day, it was mental quick for the time, you could run 2 brushless motors and make it ballistic. Thanks for all your great work on the channel, you have helped me get back into the hobby, recapturing my childhood, last count nib 52 kits Just need time to build them, we have just gone back into lockdown in New Zealand so hopefully get a few built, not to many I hope… lockdown is a strange thing for us kiwis, anyhow Keep up the good work, let me know if you need any info on the conversion. Talk soon, cheers Rowan NZ

Umm Yeah I’m thinking only worth doing if I were keeping it in my collection and at that point I probably would have saved a couple bucks since it would be a runner so a couple scratches doesn’t matter but correct color parts do matter ask me how much trouble I went through for matching black gearboxes on my custom TA02W build (I’m aware it’s supposed to be red but all black looked better)
@douglasv42663 жыл бұрын
I think you are only doing this half right. I think your goal should be to end up with 2 complete cars to sell. 1. Shelf Queen, 2. Vintage basher made up of working but imperfect parts from the first car and other budget parts to make a second tested and working car. That way the costs are split between 2 cars, and I am sure there are people who would like a tested and working car they can actually take out and use rather than just look at.
@didierfavre81263 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be negative but I'm wondering who is gonna pay £250 for a used TA03 with some new plastics and an aftermarket body? With that kind of money you can defnitely buy a new built example and you're not far off a NIB.

All of this is of course assuming your time is worthless though… if you’d calculate the hours spend, even at minimum wage, you would never be able to ‘make a profit’ off of it… so as a ‘business model’ this would obviously never work.

Be lucky to 200 for it, pretty much nothing left of the car you purchased, if it had it's original box maybe 220 but you'd have to throw in the original shell as the new one is wrong.
@barrycheesemore29283 жыл бұрын
To be honest I don't think you'll get £250 for it. maybe £200. It does look really good now, but I did notice that you've used screw pins on the suspension whereas the manual screenshots you showed it looks like it should be pins with 'e' clips, but then again that would be more cost! Really enjoying the videos, that car will look awesome once the body is done!!
@simong73103 жыл бұрын
That is because the Screenshots are wrong, they are from a 58177 ta03f pro or 58200 ta03f pro David Jun model...

Why is the TA03f way more popular than the TA03r? As a TA03r owner I would definitely like to see the TA03r get more love and more parts availability because everytime I look for parts I see way more f parts than r
@simong73103 жыл бұрын
This is because the front motor configuration (grandfather of xv01) is rather unique and very well suited for a rally car, street/touring car because it handles very different, more like a real front motor car rather than a racing toy. Also it's just a quirky config which just makes the car special and thus desirable. The ta03r is mostly faster than the ta03f on a track, yes, but by today's standards the ta03s are not fast anyway, so this doesn't count. Actually it should be harder to build a ta03f these days, as a few plastic parts are harder to get. The ta03r(s) was re-released not long ago so you should be able to get almost every part. Many many parts are shared anyway. So just because the seller writes ta03f it doesn't always mean its not a part for the ta03r as well...

Please dont say 'Off of.' It's an unnecessay Americanism and incorrect English grammar. You get something 'off EBay' not 'Off of EBay'!
@bamboozledbob32983 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I like this video concept. From my experience, unless you're fine with scamming people you're never gonna make profit from selling used/restored cars (the exception being scoring some super lucky bargains). What I do like a lot is trying to get cars running again to then sell them instead of just throwing them in the bin.
