Save the Mitsubishi body, seal up the holes with another piece of lexan cut into shape & painted as the body color, attach with shoe goo after you've painted the body on the inside of the body & perhaps cover the hood with something like a decal or two additionally if the edge is too obvious & run magnetic mounts ?

Hi Gavin the Subaru Impreza is looking great its one of my favourite body shells of all time and i am glad i seen your video because i have the original kyosho verson for the QRC superten but i am fitting it to a fw03 and will be painting it soon so need as many tips as i can get because if i mess this up i can’t just go and buy another because they haven’t made them since 1998 ish. I was actually thinking of using acrylic paint because any mistakes and i can just wash it off and this body will not be used as a runner anyway so what do you think about acrylic paint have you ever used it on any of your rare bodys we used to paint our body shells back in the day with acrylic when we used to go racing indoors and from what i can remember it used to stay on really well no flaking or anything just don’t get it wet lol.
@RCKickschannel3 жыл бұрын
Hi, no clue at all about acrylic paint as that’s a new one on me. For shelf queens if you could get a paint that works well enough without coming off but could be removed easily to save a rare body in the future. I’ve seen people use plasti dip and that works OK.

My personal Tamiya black hole project started it’s life as a Tamiya M1025 Hummer I got a basket case of a kit but it was free so why not unfortunately the body was to far gone and missing to many things (as with everything it might find a home in a different project) I restored it with parts I had lying around from spares and take off parts from my FF01 and stuff I had from previous TA02 chassis. Originally I planned to throw a TC body on it and make it a driver then I got a hold of a NIB TA02 FRP chassis kit and some aftermarket carbon chassis plates (probably will use the FRP ones to restore my well raced FF01 to like new condition) it’s been down the proverbial rabbit hole since 🙄🤦♂️

A few vids back I can't remember which but you said if you were doing a mint/shelf queen you would follow up the body colour with (I think) you siad silver then black, so just wanted to know the order of paint, I'm guessing body colour then silver and lastly black? might of been the Mk2 Escort body?

I would always prefer to buy a car with unpainted / undecaled body, as it is nearly impossible to get them perfect, so if you do it yourself at least you own the imperfections. Building the chassis is relatively idiot-proof. I would definitely pay more with it unfinished.

Mechanical speed controller, basically resistors limiting battery voltage & contact plates switching between them before finally just bypassing & going straight between motor & battery. Ofc this is quite wasteful in terms of energy & the resistors heat up quite a bit too when you run at slower speeds.
