Never knew that you could repair a Gameboy that has probably been sitting in a mud puddle for either a few months or 5 minutes before you started recording by simply submerging it and all its electrical insides in a bin of soapy water and then attacking it with an extremely rough brush. Truly remarkable. (Edit: This comment is sarcastic. I know it's fake, we all know it's fake. Please stop lambasting me in the replies for being stupid.)

You’d be surprised how resilient the old game boys are. To be honest as long as there’s no batteries in the system or other power source you can safely dump the circuit boards in soapy water to clean them without fear of them shorting out. Just make sure you fully dry the boards before you put the batteries back in. Most of the time you can clean the boards with rubbing alcohol, but when the system has been submerged for so long it’s sometimes best to just full on water bath the thing. I don’t think this was in the puddle for only 5 minutes because the outer shell itself and inner “heat shield” and the screen sponge had some pretty decent water logging going on. Not something that usually forms on plastics in 5 minutes or relatively fast. He was sanding it off after the water bath. He didn’t need to repaint the case, but he did just for a better look than the residual water logging. I’m not surprised that it ended up working fine in the end. You should check out some other Gameboy restoration videos. Some are pretty narly lol. Just giving some insight into this. I don’t believe the guy planted the Gameboy there the morning of the video. If anything this is a pretty good example of how much trauma these Gameboys can go through.

@@alex__woods A few things. It is covered in mud and looks like it’s been buried in the ground for years yet it’s sitting in plain view. The fact that someone is filming him walk up to it and pick it up. This looks like an impoverished area where items like this being found would be extremely rare and anything of any possible value would be picked clean in a place like that. There are thousands of videos just like this on youtube and very popular to watch and very easy to stage. Ultimately though I don’t know for sure, it’s just a very strong suspicion based on my perception of body language, how the discovery was made and the fact that videos like this get a ton of views. I don’t blame them for doing this one bit. Also look at the likes on my original comment. I’m certainly not the only one who thinks this.
Lots of places in the world are like this, and people view it as normal. Work isn't just "cleaning" the world, but teaching people to stop littering. Where I am from, Dominican Republic, it feels impossible to get some (I'll call them districts, can't remember the right word) districts clean, and it's because of a three way problem. Commonfolk ignorance, commonfolk unwillingness and a lack of law enforcement. Commonfolk ignorance would be solved if people were willing to learn, and people would learn if there was law enforcement. People enforcing law are common folk (a police officer is a guy with a gun that works for the government), and they ignorant, unwilling, or both. I wish that people of this country weren't as stubborn and the government wasn't as shy to make things right. People are fearing change. My field of work is neither being a politician nor do I have time for cleaning anybodyelse's mess, my dream isn't to lead the masses to clean the place, but I do wish that something is done, and if somebody needs my cooperation, I will.

I'm gonna guess that the only original parts are the shell and the buttons. Can get all parts on Ali Express for less than $20 (except the motherboard). You try to avoid submerging any electronics in liquid. Step one should have been; Locate the screws. Step two, disassemble. step three, clean, only submerge non electronic parts. Also how many piles of trash they looked through and didn’t show in the video? Maybe the video was taken first and not the subject and name of the restoration video and was names so after whatever they find while filming? The connections are not rusty from the dirt so the case should be broken from being out in those conditions, the screen should be cracked, the buttons should be missing and nothing should be left. @beeholddrbeesphbees3783 жыл бұрын
@@stephendowdican7589 Trust me, I know some things about this stuff. Most of what your talking about requires oxidation. If the item was burred in mud, it was not really getting the oxygen required to discolor the plastics or really anything. You would be amazed sometimes at how well preserved things can be under optimal conditions. Something of the right kind of mud actually is a really good preserving agent of plastics. Besides, plastics only change color with age under certain conditions and certain forms of plastic.

It's just ridiculous to watch! If you don't know, this author makes staged repairs. He first removes the work console and in the painted case, then he fills in and throws it out himself. Everything is the magic of editing. Believe me, the display will never work more, even if it is even a little, and then he bathed it twice in water and tore off the back plate. It can be seen that the screen is different! This is just staged content, like all of his other videos!

Dude I’m sorry but this video is fake, they frickin S O A K E D the CPU, the battery port, the Headphone jack, the entire system that runs the screen AND the console as a WHOLE. The gameboy advance as well as all other Nintendo consoles are hella not waterproofed. After the wear they “found” that thing in it was never meant to ever function again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but they faked and potentially (forget I said potentially they DEFINITELY did) with 2 gameboy consoles (just showed the new one on-screen when they needed to show functionality).
